I thought it was a pretty good pick. I'm assuming you're still looking for a wideout at some point, and I may have moved in that direction in round 2 had it been me.

But you got a guy who's biggest asset is his explosive burst to penetrate the gap, someone who uses his strength well as a bull rusher, and should play well in run defense as he's a mountain of a man and difficult to move.

Spags should be able to get him to quit lunging at the ball carrier on the line, which is definitely a weak point.

Good value, good pick.

I'm not looking for a #1 WR in this draft. My only goal is to perhaps find

A) Good value at tight end

and

B) A slot guy

I'm not throwing Clausen behind this line until Smith proves he can play LT.

The Rams still need significant help in the secondary as well.

IMO it makes up for the reach in the 1st round.

Campbell or Clausen?

Bradford will not be available when the Chiefs pick.

Really good point. The Chiefs and the Rams probably have more holes to fill than anyone in the entire league.

Who the **** said he would be?

Mr. Flopnuts 03-11-2010 03:52 PM

He wasn't very happy with the Clausen pick in the 1st round. In another thread last night he said Clausen would fall into the 2nd round. Hilarity ensued.

As a Rams fan, Bradford will not be there. Maybe not even Clausen.ROFL

Clausen. With or without Clausen the Rams will be picking in the top 10 next year and there will be a much better class for Qb's. Suh is a once a generation player. It's ok though your pick is better than what the Rams will do when they draft Bradford.

That is correct. It just depends who the Chiefs have ranked higher on the board and if Haley thinks Cassel can be the QB long term.

The Rams have holes at the following places

Starters:

QB
#1 WR
#3 WR
TE
RG
RT

I think that Avery is a solid #2. Keenan Burton is probably a #4 WR

They also need the following on defense:

1 DE (preferably an RDE to move Long to left end)
1 NT (although Carriker, for some reason, played this position better than UT)
3T
SLB
WLB
FS
SS
RCB
DB

I think that Fletcher and King will work as #2 and #3 corners, respectively. But there are holes everywhere.

Sad day in Ram nation by the way. Merlin Olsen passed away.

Yeah, I disagree on where he goes. I think Clausen is the best QB in this class. I don't see him making it past 4 regardless of whether the Rams take Bradford or not.

It's a better QB class, but you can't guarantee that the Rams will get one.

As I said, a Clausen in hand is worth a Locker/Luck/Mallett in the bush, especially when you consider adding a guy like Michael Floyd or A.J. Green into the mix with him.

Mr. Flopnuts 03-11-2010 03:59 PM

I'd like some feedback on the Pouncey selection for Indy. That was kind of a tough decision for me.
