First two episodes of this have been more entertaining than the first two episodes of GoT.

Dragons. Cool CGI. Crab people and shit. GoT season 1 took awhile to pick up steam.

Hammock Parties 08-29-2022 11:52 AM

my only problem with this show is that Rhaenyra is just dany lite at this point, and it's becoming annoying

You should just be happy that she isn't black.

ToxSocks 08-29-2022 12:02 PM

Was the existence of Dragons and how the Targs became their "keepers" ever explained in the mythos?

Staylor, your boy was a little bitch when confronted with a powerful blonde girl. Weak.

Just further proof that there's more to the character than meets the eye.

Just like him telling Corlys that only he's allowed to talk shit about his brother. He's actually a loyal dude, just feels like he's been shit on.

There are parallels to Jaime, except he's not simping for his sister 24/7.

Still easily the best and most interesting character so far

Honestly,

GoT with House of the Dragon is showing how you CAN take creative liberties effectively with Black people without HAM FISTING it in there.

One thing Daemon is 100% correct about is that his brother is way too weak. I'm not sure if there are any heroes in this whole story by the time the civil war is done. But Daemon won't be viewed as a completely bad guy at the end of it.

Daemon is loyal to the pure Targaryen bloodline, whereas we have the Hightower family trying to weasel their way onto the Throne...basically hijacking it from a Targaryen dynasty into a Hightower dynasty.

Nah. HBO deserves a metric pile of shit for allowing it to devolve that far. Tell them to shape up or get the **** out when you can see it's devolved to that point.

Come on, they made billions for HBO. No corporation are going to fire their moneymaker for a decade in their last year.

This was totally all on D&D. Its been decided by the business, Hollywood and fans. It sucks that they wont even address it, apologize to the fans.

Was hoping we'd see a fight or atleast the crabs on him. He looked cool but whatever

staylor26 09-05-2022 02:07 PM

There was no need to show that fight scene. We all knew how it would play out (except for maybe Twisted :D).

Seeing him walk out dragging his torso/head was badass.

ThaVirus 09-05-2022 06:16 PM

Man, I really like Viserys. He needs to get his shit together, but he is a decent enough dude.

ChiefsCountry 09-05-2022 06:48 PM

Last night was pretty much a classic GoT type episode. Bunch of personal drama through the majority of it and then bam end with an epic fight.

TwistedChief 09-05-2022 06:55 PM

I watch this and after episode 3 I don't feel dramatically different from how I did watching GoT. Will it be as good? Is it as good? Probably not. But it is eminently enjoyable? Absolutely.

I'm just crestfallen that the Creebfeeder didn't ascend to the Iron Throne.

it was up to the GOT 1-6 seasons standard. They have the original GRR books completed. No D&D winging it.

It's never going to be peak GOT.

But this first season is honestly better than the first season of GOT (currently rewatching that too), and I have no doubt the ending will be better since it's already finished in the books.

That's good enough for me.

It feels like he generally tries to do the right thing, but I still think Daemon's description of him in E1 is accurate. Too easily influenced by those around him. It was also clearly a mistake for him to wed Hightower's daughter over Velaryon's daughter, which again was a product of him being easily influenced.

BlackOp 09-05-2022 10:34 PM

At least it's evident that it's not going to suck...that was quality fantasy entertainment.

Nice character development scene of the princess walking through the crowd with blood on her....had GOT vibes in that.

lawrenceRaider 09-06-2022 04:59 AM

There aren't many unambiguously ethical people in this universe.

He's a hell of a lot better dude than Daemon, that's for sure.

I see him more as a guy who is trying to make everyone happy, which is just not possible in his position.

I'm also not sure he is so easily influenced. Obviously he was manipulated into marrying Alicent by Otto, but Otto is also always in his ear telling him how to handle Daemon and he ignores his counsel all the time. He ignored Corlys' proposal for marriage to his daughter, he ignored societal norms in naming Rhaenyra is heir, and he's in the process of ignoring his duty to enforce a political marriage for Rhaenyra.

He shows a lot of strength in making decisions all the time. I think his biggest issue is just being a people pleaser and often making the wrong decisions (or at least not the best decisions.

ThaVirus 09-06-2022 07:58 AM

The whole thing with the failed hunt, Viserys struggling to land the killing blow, and the white hart presenting itself to Rhaenyra all seemed pretty on the nose.

Is there any deeper interpretation there or is what everyone guesses pretty much what that represented?

I think the white stag in the kingswood is supposed to represent the true king or something.

But honestly I think it was done well enough.

She's 22. She looks 20ish. IMO she looks older than the Hightower chick, Viserys is a LOT older than Daemon.

Uncle/Niece banging. GRRM is the ultimate perv.

Buehler445 09-11-2022 10:07 PM

As far as the episode, there is continuously more humor than I anticipated. And I won't lie, I was rooting for the 10 year old that waxed that dude. I'm here for that.

The incest bothered me more than the pedo stuff.

It was kind of weird that Rheahnyra and Alicent were magically fiends again with no explanation at all.

It is interesting that Viserys is finding strength and becoming the better leader as his body rots. He's about a million times more compelling today than he was the first couple episodes.

I'm in. All the way in. At least to the point I'll give them the rope to hang themselves.
