Reread the thread to make sure I hadn't mentioned it but if you like B class horror I'd suggest 1983's One Dark Night

Also if you like zombies and yet another drive-in B classic from way back check out Children Shouldn't Play With Dead things

When it happens after a moment I'm able to recognize what's going on and keep myself calm until I can move. Of course as a kid it scared the crap out of me, so I can see why someone might wanna make a horror-doc. Also helps that I've learned personal triggers and try to avoid them. But a lot less scary when you realize its not aliens or other dark forces. :) |

Anyway, i invited my little sister and nephew over to watch this several months ago (both teens). My wife had a few GF's over as well. Sadly, none of them could get into it. Which is a bummer because i thought it was decent. |

Cant help but add that the lucid dream was about getting arrested and locked away for a loooong time. Dreadful. Until I became lucid and decided that I was Magneto. Good times. |
Kids will like Goosebumps. Not a bad flick.

I watched it agian years later and it holds up pretty well. Dont get me wrong, I love, love, love, the Kubrick version, and all the little details that went into it, but they both need to be watched~ |

This thread reminded me I haven't watched a lot in the genre in a while but I used to watch a lot of it.
Some early stuff from Del Toro is really solid. The Devil's Backbone and Chronos. |
It Follows was well done because the writers modeled after John Carpenter - and honestly - it had a little early nineties/late eighties vibe.
The Babadook was very well done as well (think i've mentioned this on CP already, but) - the punchline of the killer (he whispers 'babadook' aloud) was pretty bad, but - eliminate that - and The Bobadook was VERY good. |

I finally finished VHS2. I did enjoy that last segment, as someone mentioned earlier. I was surprised by this movie. I didn't think i'd enjoy it as much as a i did. The last story was a bit intense.

Watched The Green Inferno last night.
Pretty awful. Barely JUCO level acting. Pretty gory and tense, but overall extremely disappointing. Felt like a Syfy late night product. There's a pot scene that's particularly ridiculous.. |

Watched Insidious chapter 3 last night. It was pretty damn good.
Also this preview played before the movie and it looks good for a horror/comedy. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/zreNh78kTjg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

Well... This is the worst of 'em all. I don't even have words to describe it. Who would even make something like that? WTF is the point? This has to be the most ****ed up film ever made. And if you're like me...sitting there thinking, "wow, what could be SOO bad that i simply shouldn't watch it? I have to watch it now!"....well...don't. It's not worth the time and you'll walk away saying, "why the **** did they need to show me that?" For those of you who are curious to see a train wreck, i'll go ahead and share the ending so you can remove that curiosity and understand that this film is simply disgusting and shouldn't be viewed. It's not "art" by any means.
Spoiler!
Shit movie. Even if you like shock value movies, just avoid this one. It wants to be "Irreversible" but it went way too far. |

If they had made only one Nightmare on Elm Street movie, I think Freddy Krueger would rank right up there with the scariest monsters of all time. That movie scared the piss out of me the first time I saw it.
But with all of the sequels and with Freddy having his own TV show and appearing on The Simpson's, Freddy isn't scary at all any more. |

It's on SUNDHD now |
I always thought Prince Of Darkness was very creepy.
Looking back now they talked about quantum physics and the nature of reality in ways most sci-fi/horror didn't even really consider until a decade later... <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/MWbFni6_25Y" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

My issue with movies like this is that it's the same damn played out recipe that we've seen over and over again the last 10-15 years. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre effect. You know the routine....4-5 random college students go on a road trip, end up in some weird back-country area. They introduce the characters via shitty banter as they drive down the road, thus giving them zero depth. Throw in some titty shots, maybe a **** scene or two and then start start chopping off limbs and spraying blood everywhere. Pretty much every horror movie made in the last 10+ years aimed at the 15-25 y/o demographic. Imma still watch it though! |
The Interrupted Journey is pretty creepy if you do any research into the Betty and Barney Hill case.
Same for The Mothman Prophecies... |
I'm unable to post the trailer atm but It Comes At Night is getting GREAT reviews (new horror film starring Joel Edgerton comes out on June 9). Just a heads up.

My girlfriend never used to watch scary movies (because they're too scary of course). But now I guess she feels emboldened since I'm sleeping next to her every night and wants to watch nothing but scary movies.
We've watched basically everything that's come out in the last year or so and I've been trying to go back in the history books for some other good ones. Problem is, she doesn't like anything that looks too dated. So what movies would you guys recommend on this side of the turn of the century? Thus far we've watched The Strangers, Orphan, The Conjuring, Insidious, Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003), Sinister, The Descent and we're planning to watch The Skeleton Key soon. I debated on Hostel and Wrong Turn but she doesn't like the gory stuff too much. For that, she's not much into zombies flicks either so I'm holding off on Dawn of the Dead remake and 28 Days/Weeks Later. Any other suggestions? |
Watched The Void last weekend and was pretty solid luvcraftian type of flick.

So It Comes At Night was a massive rip off . Literally was NOT a horror film at all. Not completely terrible by any means but I was expecting it to be scary (based off the trailers) . Oh well.

I'll suggest some french horror films for ya (if you don't mind subtitles that is) Martyrs Inside High Tension |
also REC is a really good one. I think its a Spanish horror film.
|

REC is also good but that's more of a zombie film than anything so I'll hold off on that for now. We've actually seen more than I previously listed, by the way. Some more are coming to me now. We watched As Above So Below, Devil, and The Babadook. VHS is another one I'll add to the list. |

This is something I'd like to do. Drive in movies are a historic relic I'm glad this one is still around. An all nighter of horror movies how cool is that?

Just finished watching Creepshow 2 a few nights ago. It's been a while since I've seen that. Not really a big fan. The original Creepshow is perhaps the finest horror anthology ever made. Also watched House, I watch it every once in a while, very nostalgic for me. Personally, I'm a sucker for the early Carpenter flicks. The Fog, Halloween and The Thing all rank way up there for me.
