He makes a couple plays each game, of late......I wouldn't say "he's balling!"

He's two or three steps late on every pass....better against the run but still misses tackles.

New Orleans ranked last in the NFL in total defense and run defense, yielding the most yards (7,042) ever in a single season. The Saints went 7-9 this season and allowed 454 points; only Tennessee gave up more!

I don’t think REID will fire his little buddy. Sean was quick to fire his ass and deservingly so!

I was repeatedly told that this was not his fault, though.

It's probably just time to admit, Andy Reid has the same faults he always did, that places him above a lot of head coaches in the NFL but couple that with Brett Veach and it's not a winning formula.

Spags had a chance to get a bunch of his guys. The talent isn't great but there is more than enough to not be this horrendous. The defense is new enough that we can still get better with experience. But that's a thin thread thus deep in the season and given spags track record.

To be clear, I was never crazy about the hire and furious about it now. But you can't blame spags for what happened in bountygate or mcadoogate.

Zero talent? All I read all off-season on here was that: it was great to get rid of Houston and Ford, Clark was just a hair below Mack in terms of talent , Jones is a beast, Hitchens will shine now that he's back in a 4-3, and the honey badger solved all safety problems.

What do they have, 8 new starters on D?

All of a sudden none of geese guys fit the new scheme and are devoid of talent? The primary off-season plan was to fix the run, and none of the schematic or personnel changes has yielded a positive result.

Don't give me the talent argument, it's either on Veach, Spags or both of them. They went and spent a shit ton of money on that side of the ball, to see the performance be worse than last year or at best similar is unacceptable.

If you pulled that shit at your job you'd get fired.

He is and he isn't. He is only because he was instrumental in bringing in spags and hiring veach. Fix those things (or hope they become magically better) and Reid isn't the problem. Clark Hunt needs to be the guy to hold Reid accountable. He is a great coach getting in his own way but he's still a great coach.

They aren't going to get 'better' as the season goes on unless they start playing their assignments aggressive in the box. There are guys in position to make a play, they just don't make it. I wouldn't blame that on scheme. Ragland has been the best run defending linebacker so far and he's not even playing..

Why would he do that? Clark is probably doing backflips that we aren't winning 2-4 games a year now.

I'm not saying he will. Just saying he can.

I wasn't at all excited about spags. I was crazy excited about house and Daly. That's why this part is so damn puzzling. Granted, we've had a really tough lineup of slippery qbs or power running games. But our lack of fundamentals is shocking and disappointing.

morphius 10-14-2019 07:09 AM

Didn't want him, hope they are willing to admit the mistake and move on. The players are obviously not helping, but this D is a train wreck.

I know this is a defensive focused thread but Andy sure could help the defense by sustaining some longer drives to give them time to adjust on the sideline. KC's line from the center left is dogshit right now and Andy should be at least trying to run a bit and aim for 3rd and 3-5. I think the RB's averaged 5 per carry yesterday and they just abandoned it completely. Some 21 personnel stuff needs to be mixed in asap which can help mahomes from getting hit as well with the play action game.
