I’m so sick of how coddled LJ is. Even after this loss, Lamar’s ball washers are still out in force saying he’s still a young player and he’ll learn from this. Dude, you can’t teach accuracy, you can tweak a few mechanics but that’s it. He can’t win a shootout because he doesn’t have the consistent accuracy downfield that’s needed. He has yet to show the resiliency needed to come from behind and win.

Just compare Lamar Jackson's demeanor/body language when his team is trailing/facing adversity to Mahomes in those same situations.

That's another reason why Lamar is not and probably will never be at Mahomes' level.

Who knows. Maybe I’m just old and crotchety or too blinded by Mahomes’ play in KC. But I’d rather have Josh Allen than Lamar.

Lamar seems to me to be similar to Alex Smith: good enough to win games and get you into playoffs, but not good enough to put the team on his back and win. GOod enough that, surrounded by good personnel and decent coaches, you draft between spots 20 and 26 but never 31 or 32.

I agree but perhaps a better comparison is Michael Vick?

You also can’t fix arm strength. Jackson has plenty when he is sitting in the pocket, but if he’s on the move he just can’t move it downfield with accuracy.

One of the reasons his accuracy isn’t great, IMO, is that his arm strength isn’t great. That’s why he struggles with the throws that require the most velocity AND accuracy. He can do one. He can’t do both beyond 10 yards.

He'd have to count negative numbers for that score.

He is a very young player though. Won’t be 24 until January.

What did we hear all week?

“Teams have tape and are starting to figure out Mahomes.”

Are teams not figuring out Jackson? Chiefs and Titans have both given teams the blueprint

Sure. The formula is:

1) Have a great front four that can create pressure from the outside and interior, with at least 3 above-average pass rushers and at least one elite pass rusher.

2) Have a DEEP secondary that features: at least 4 CBs - so you can rotate them and keep them fresh; at least 3 good S, including one who can play CF and at least one who can single up against TEs

3) Incredible discipline and consistent tackling across the entire back 7

How many teams have that blueprint?

The 49ers did (don't now, without Bosa and Buckner)

The Chargers DO

The Steelers have the pass rush and talent on the back end, but I don't think they have the depth the Chargers do at CB and S.

Other than that, who?

Well, I think the blueprint is about the same as the chargers and 49ers have to beat us. They don't have a blueprint. They just have the exact personnel and scheme to frustrate us. You beat Baltimore by taking them out of their game. The minute they press or can't beat a tired defense into submission in the second half, they have no answer. I don't think the challenge is stopping lamar, it's having to stop lamar, their running game, and defense at the same time. We can explode against their good defense in ways others can't. Our defense is also good enough to get just enough early stops.

So Baltimore will still be a tough team. But we are their daddy. Because our offense is their kryptonite.

I would agree. That and the chargers and 49ers running that cover 3. It's currently our only offense weak spot. But... So was man to man just a year ago. Reid and mahomes are mad scientists who will figure this out.
