I'll answer to say it is a minor but competent film.
Its one innovative conceit is retelling a mostly true story, dramatized with competent actors, and with the narrative punctuated by accounts from the real people in the originating story.
It has a pretty darn decent soundtrack that lends it propulsion, atmosphere and emotion.
But the origin story doesn't reveal a whole lot new for fact or fiction. Bored teens plan for the theft of valuable library books that they deem under minimal security. They take their planning cues from modern heist movies. But the difficulties they run into are more pedestrian and emotional than the slick stories on the big screen, and they make a royal mess of it.

There is some value in the counterposition of the debasing and soul-crushing reality of criminality with the daydream adventure of it. I won't say more than that to avoid ruining what I took to be the emotional heart of the film.

You would be correct . Taylor Sheridan (the writer of the Sicario series) has been wanting to make it a trilogy . With the possibility of bringing back Emily Blunt's character for the 3rd and final installment.

Yes. I didn’t laugh one time. Poorly written, poorly executed, and entirely unfunny. We’re not on this earth for very long— safeguard 90 minutes and do something else.

Passepartout 01-06-2019 10:47 PM

Yeah as my brother and his wife loved Game Night. Looks pretty dumb to me. But that is just me.

Baby Lee 01-06-2019 11:19 PM

Game Night is good dumb fun done well.

It's likeable and funny actors working in a smart premise. It's not going to change any lives, but you'll enjoy a carefree 90 or so minutes, you'll enjoy watching them perform, and you'll laugh a time or two.

It's not earth-shaking, but the premise is ripe for comedy and the cast is well suited to take advantage of it.

This. There was nothing enjoyable about watching that piece of shit. I never watched arrested development but every movie I’ve ever seen with Jason Bateman in the lead comedy role has sucked ass.

RN47 01-07-2019 08:35 AM

I like Arrested Development, and generally speaking I think Bateman can be pretty funny in most roles-- I even had a few laughs during 'Bad Words'.

This movie just seemed like a money grab; lifeless and unfunny.

I thought the scene where batamen yelled and Matt damon clone and company pause and look towards the room was hilarious

The only Jason Bateman movie that I thought sucked was Couples Retreat, just dreadful.

"The Gift" with he and Joel Edgerton was surprisingly good.
