He might be overrated, but he is 1st/2nd round talent.

That’s why I want Tim Settle. He’d help that.

42 reps on the bench for Harrison Phillips.

Forty two. Holy shit

DaneMcCloud 03-03-2018 09:12 PM

Shaquem Griffin used a prosthetic hand and did 20 reps on the bench press.

Some team is going to get an extremely passionate football player.

Maybe so, but decent guards stall him 1v1 consistently. I watched this kid pretty much every week man. I live here. Watch Penn State. Watch Ohio State. Watch Minnesota. Watch him over Wisconsin's RG. He's going to see that and better in the pros, and he got absolutely dominated. He's got some quickness off the snap (albeit half of that is lining up off-sides 90% of the time), but either way he's got a good burst and he has a good recovery burst. Other than that, he has a long ways to go in the strength department. Unless he gets into a 1-gap 4-3 scheme, I think he's going to be a colossal bust or at best take 3 years to develop. Even in a 1-gap scheme, I think teams are going to see hurdles for him to overcome. He just can't anchor. A team might be better off seeing if he can play LDE in an even front. I never had him in round 1 and certainly wouldn't consider it now.

Doesn't really give any indication as to what the Chiefs want, but I'm starting to hope they plug LB via FA and look at the D Line and secondary with their top picks.

I still somehow hope they turn that 2019 second into a 2018 second.

He’s not going that low, but I also don’t think there’s any way you can say he has no shot at being there at 54. It’s more likely that he is than he isn’t.

Maurice Hurst if he checks out alright and Settle would probably be higher on most boards.

Trenton Thompson is a possibility too.

Forgot about Thompson. Settle really hurt his value today.

This is turning out to be a great class for our needs. OL, DT, CB and S is really deep.

Good because I really couldn’t care less how he did today. I’ve seen enough on tape to say we should run to the podium if he makes it to 54.

But you’re right, I’m very comfortable with what will be available at those positions on day 2.

This is such a good class. ILB and WR are the only positions that I see that are weak this year.

It’s a great year to have mid round picks and I think Veach is going to try to trade guys like Steven Nelson to get additional picks.

I would seriously consider trading our 2019 2nd rd pick from LA for an early 3rd this year if a guy that we love falls down the board. There is legitimate talent that will be there. Travis Kelce/Kareem Hunt/Justin Houston type of quality.

O.city 03-04-2018 11:50 AM

Yea, I don’t think Nelson is going anywhere, but I’d be interested in trading that 2019 2nd from the Rams depending on who’s available at the top of the 3rd.

He isn’t an outside corner. His best attribute is playing the slot.

Kendall Fuller makes him expendable

Trading him makes no sense from a numbers perspective. You’d have 2 corners currently that can even play

Chief Northman 03-04-2018 12:12 PM

I don’t know where the elevated draft projections for Shepherd are coming from. He played inferior competition. When I watch his tape I see an “active” player, but not a dominant one. His 4th/5th round projections are appropriate.

If the Chiefs want an impact DL player from this draft, the wheelhouse might be the late 1st to mid 2nd round.

Chubb, Vea, Payne and Bryan will likely be out of range.

Guys I think will be in range at 54?
Phillips, Green, Settle, Nnadi, Hurst (injury drop)

Bryan and Green are my two favourites. I think Settle is dropping because of his testing.

I don’t have much trust in the guy playing outside full time. We know Veach has tried to trade him, so it seems like he’s viewed as expendable.

Corner was by far our worst position group last year. I think a complete overhaul is about to take place including a FA signing and high draft pick.

I wonder if Key has substance abuse issues...

Quote:

LSU edge rusher Arden Key said teams at the NFL Combine have been "blown away" when he explained the reasons for his leave of absence from the Tigers after last season.

We honestly aren't sure if this implies a good reaction or a bad one. But this is what Key's father had to say. "I told him to be truthful and let them know he made a mistake," Arden Key Sr. said. "He’s a person that, like any other kid entering the draft, he’s proven he’s a high-character guy who’s made a few mistakes along the way. That’s the phase he went through, and he learned from it. He’s put that behind him." Per the Baton Rouge Advocate, Key sought out treatment last spring for an undisclosed off-the-field matter. No one has revealed the issue publicly, leading to rampant speculation. Key underwent surgery last May to repair a partially torn labrum in his rotator cuff. It was revealed in the past few days that he played through a broken pinkie finger and a sprained MCL last year, which at least answers some questions about his toughness.

BJ Hill ran a 4.99 40

This DL class is damn good

O.city 03-04-2018 12:30 PM

Tremaine Edmunds ran fast

Chief Northman 03-04-2018 12:46 PM

Josey Jewell ran a pedestrian 40 time, but I like his game. Tremendous instincts, a solid tackler in the run game, a competent blitzer when asked and decent in short zone coverage. If testing causes him to drop to late 3rd/4th, I’d hope the Chiefs consider him.

Absolutely. Look at his numbers. I don't think it matters one damn bit that he doesn't have a hand. He's still a very good tackler and has 18.5 sacks in the past two seasons.

He's gonna be a player.
