Geno Smith #1?

Quote:
Per the Buck Buchanan suggestion, will you also include AFL draft picks? It's a gray area since some players were drafted in both leagues, but a guy like Buck gets shafted if we don't include the AFL. I'm not sure what the right answer is. |
deion sanders over glenn dorsey at number 5. seriously?!?!?

I'd totally homer pick David Wilson because I ****ing LOVE what that guy brings to the table, but there hasn't been enough time to really test him out, I'm sure there's much more veteran, stoic, and storied guys who deserve that spot. But if I had to choose a #32 guy going into the future, David Wilson is my guy for sure. |
How about Logan Mankins or Mathias Kiwanuka?
|
Quote:
I think we need some more rules to the draft. Are we drafting the best player inclusive of positional importance? That seems kind of boring as a ton of QBs will be picked. Look at how many people are taking Big Ben at 11. You could argue he's the 8th or 9th best active QB in the NFL now. Is he a better QB than Willis is a lber? For current players are we drafting on what they've accomplished so far or are we including future seasons? but then you have to assume how they'll continue to perform. Aaron Rodgers might be Carson Palmered in this postseason and put up 4 more mediocre seasons. If were just taking total career to this point I'd probably have to think about Ed Reed @ #24. |
Reggie White selected 4th in 1985 by Eagles.
Bruce Smith selected 1st in 1985 by Bills. |
Ty Law or Bruce Armstrong might be a contender at #23. Can't think of any 23rd picks that rocked the world, anyway.
As Rain Man said, Logan Mankins is in the running at #32. That's it from Patriot-land. All our other best picks have someone who is pretty obviously ahead of them at that draft slot. Don't think anyone here will take John Hannah over DT at #4, etc. |
Quote:
Nope. |
I hate to say it, but Reggie White belongs at 4.

Watched a football life documentary on him a couple weeks ago. Forgot what an unbelievable career he had. No doubt should fill that #10 spot. |
Does Lenny the cool get consideration at #1 overall.

I'd take Manning over Elway, personally. |

Willie Roaf 8
Bruce Matthews 9 DeMarcus Ware 11 |

Went through the list of choices at #10. It's between Ron Woodson, Jerome Bettis and Marcus Allen, with a passing nod to Terrell Suggs and Herman Moore, who was a great WR dealing with crappy Lions QBs. Out of that group, I'd probably take Marcus Allen, though it's not exactly a slam dunk over Woodson. I think he's clearly ahead of Bettis, however, as he was much more of a receiving threat. |
Quote:
Umm....sure? As the guy who saw Manning mount more than a few furious come from behind victories, including one over the Patriots in the 2005 AFCCG when down something like 31-17 in the second half, Manning is plenty clutch for me. Believe me, I'd take Tom Brady over either of them, but as between Manning and Elway, I'll take Manning. The biggest advantage Elway has over Manning in my book isn't some vague "clutch" thing, it's his running/scrambling ability. |
Warren Sapp 12
|
Terry Bradshaw at #1.

Not even close. Not even remotely close to being close. So far from close that it is, in fact, far. |

Marvin Harrison 19
Tim Brown 6 Champ Bailey 7 |
Quote:
I gotta stop this, but... at number 6 (assuming 1970 forward) the contenders are: Richard Seymour, Torry Holt, Walter Jones, Tim Brown, James Lofton, and John Riggins. Out of that group, I like Seymour, Jones and Brown over the rest, and think I would take Jones over all of them, as one of the top 3 or so best offensive tackles in NFL history. |
