Heh...that one looks a little more promising.

Ah, yeah. I remember the first one. My goober older kids kept renting it over and over again so I finally watched it. Shortly after watching it I stopped at the local 7-11 on the way to work very early in the morning. The guy was mopping the floor and not letting people in. There were four cops at the door handing the guy cash for their items. Two locals, two California Highway Patrol. When I walked up to the door I yelled, "Gimme a liter o' cola!" The local guys cracked up, the CHP just looked pissed and one said, "That's not funny." So I said, "Oh, I think it was, but you bet your ass I'll be driving the speed limit all the way to work today, officer." The local guys cracked up some more and the CHP just glared at me. Made my morning.

It is funny it took them this long to make the second. They were sitting on a gold mine but I think it won't do as well just because of the time between the movies. Even if it does look halfway decent.

Extra style points for them using the song "Ca Plan Pour Moi" by Plastic Bertrand.

Then Jay got into directing, and I sense he's a primary motivator in the group. |

Beerfest and Club Dread where both decent enough.
I wasnt hot on ST 2 but this newest trailer makes me think it may be funny. Gotta be better than Zoolander 2, Joe Dirt 2 etc |
It was forgettable. Funny in parts; good for a few one-offs. I mean, not that dissimilar to the first when you get down to it. Predictably just not quite as good. Worth the $2 on Redbox or whatever.
The first movie was made 18 years ago yet the guys didn't age nearly as much as I thought they would have, except Rabbit. Lynda Carter doesn't look a day older somehow. But holy hell, age did not treat Ursula well. She looked worn as hell in this movie in the 30 seconds or so she was in it. But it was all worth it to see Emmanuelle Chriqui. As a general rule, she's attractive. But for whatever reason she's a goddamn smokeshow in this movie. Broken Lizard seems hell-bent on a part 3 and I guess this wasn't so bad that it should slam the door on that. Nor was it good enough that I desperately want to see one made. It was just...there. |
