I was surprised that the 49ers didn't find a way to keep him around after they ditched Harbaugh. He's a great DC. Time will tell if he can transition to a good HC. Some do....some don't. Crennel had a 4-15 record as HC. Here's hoping similar HC success to Mr. Fangio. :)

If it works out, that sucks. I was totally wrong about Arians a few years ago. But I'm skeptical of a coach this old, this experienced, with this much a track record of really really good success that never sniffed a HC offer and not for lack of trying. Because most of them never became head coaches for a reason. And even now, he gets a job only if he agrees to be neutered on offense.

He may install a nasty defense and he's got a lot of talent to work with. That's scary. But it could end up being a bust too. He's done something to make GMs nervous in the past.
