If they start Jay and just let Bourjas start against lefty's I'll be pissed.

He has to say that, nothing has been won on the field yet. It would be stupid as a leader to say otherwise at this point.

I understand that Matheny backs his players. Thats one reason he has support in the locker room. He has their back. I would not expect him to diss a player or say anything derogatory even in the slightest hope that's true.

We saw what happened when Larussa flapped his gums about Rasmus. We lost a helluva lot trade value when he did that. Besides I'm not on board with Hamas's position that robinson is good as a 4th outfielder.

I'm assuming that if Bourjas goes down with an injury for any length of time, Taveras gets the call up to the big show.

Garcia shut down after experiencing shoulder pain during his throwing program. Going to St. Louis for an MRI.

I am really not that surprised. The Cards should probably go ahead and be looking to replace Garcia anyways.

It would be nice to have a lefty in the lineup but Martinez or Kelly can step in and replace him.

Wow! Looks like 19 guys are going to turn over in your 25 man roster! Radical!!

No doubt. It's not surprising in the least. A shoulder injury is the worst injury a pitcher can have, and Garcia is made out of papier mache, anyway.

Store this away:

Any time a pitcher hurts his shoulder just throw him in the gutter.

O.city 02-22-2014 05:58 PM

That sucks, but did any of you guys actually think he was gonna be in te rotation anyway?

I'd love to have a lefty in there but I'm about ready to see little Pedro get te shot

If anyone was counting on Garcia they were fools. What pitcher has ever returned from the type of shoulder surgery Garcia had?

Sucks for him but we still have a deep pitching staff. We can even lose another pitcher and still have no problem having a top level staff.

I don't believe in his ability to be healthy, nor do I trust him in any big game situation. He's a valuable player to have from April-August, but you could never count on him in a postseason series.

Waino, Miller, Lynn, Wacha, Kelly is your rotation. I still think they keep Martinez as the setup man, even though I'd love for him to get the shot. Lyons will spell some guys.

O.city 02-22-2014 06:07 PM

Kelly doesn't miss a lot of bats but this seems to be an easy choice for him to slide right into that spot.

I know this was a joke but got me to thinking. I thought we has a lot of turnover since the 2011 WS team. We only have 11 members of that WS team on the current team. Thats quite the turnover.

Happens to every team.

I'm going to try and really appreciate this core we have right now, because it's unlikely we'll ever see anything like it again. Other teams are going to begin raiding our scouts and executives en masse. Several teams are already beginning to copy the organizational blueprint. One one who sucks the penis from the Angels even stole the damned book.

This will be remembered as a golden era, but we need to strike in the next few years, because you can't keep these kinds of teams together forever.

Marcellus 02-22-2014 08:37 PM

Never expected Garcia to be a big part of this team anyway. Opens a spot for a guy who can stay healthy.

True dat. The Cardinal way book is given to every minor league coach and player. Can't be that hard for another team to get their hands on a copy.

We ain't the Yankees, Angel, Dodgers etc. We can't cover up mistakes with out $2 Billion TV contracts.

We have at least 4 years. Yadi will be done as a catcher. Then we have Rosenthal and Miller hitting FA. Waino will be coming off the books so we can pay one. But next year we got Martinez and Wacha hitting FA.

Starting with the WS Championship, we have a 7 year window. Thats a pretty damn big window for a team with our payroll.

We got 4 years of planning to replace them.
