And I now have a new appreciation for the ease of disassembling, cleaning and reassembling modern weapons.

Holy shit, what a pain in the ass. I was doing this over at my buddy's house, and it cured him of wanting to get one. :D

Have you shot it yet?

Yeah, last weekend. We couldn't get on paper with it - I need to figure out how to properly adjust the sights. Apparently you need to adjust the front sight as well, which I was unaware of at the time. Had limited time and ammo at the range, so we punted and went to the AR.

H&K make outstanding guns. If I had $700+ to put into a handgun, I would most def pick one up. That said, if you are considering this for a CC... I would look at the USP Compact V1 instead.

I carried the hk p7 for five years in Texas as a duty pistol. Shot like a dream. I wish the still made them cause I'll never be able to afford one now.

FYI - good deal on 223/556 ammo-

http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ItemD...aspx?sku=74001

PMC Bronze for $6.15/20 rd box. 1000 rds + shipping will put you at just over $0.32 per rd. I'm not sure how long it will last.

OK...so I ordered 1000 rounds and got an email from them a day later saying they didn't have it.

You can get PMC bronze for around 5 bucks a box at Cabelas when it goes on sale. Its not very accurate. But has decent brass for reloading.

Lake city M193 can be had for sub $300/1000, while not as pretty as pmc it shoots just as well and is 5.56 pressure.

This is the same thing as Federal, right? That's what I generally use. I'm not running any of that Russian shit through my AR.
