U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson asked the Federal Trade Commission to keep a lookout for price gougers ahead of Hurricane Irma’s potential landfall on Florida shores.

The Democratic senator sent a letter to acting FTC head Maureen Ohlhausen asking for the commission to watch for spikes in gas prices ahead of the storm and also in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, which ravaged the gulf coast last week.

Nelson said that the release of 1 million barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve looks to have kept prices stable in the immediate aftermath of Harvey.

Latest forecast, is Irma will be a Cat 3 landing on the southern tip of Florida early Monday morning with winds of 120 MPH. It is predicted to move up up the spine of the state. Looks like all of us Floridians are going to be getting it per this latest.

The weather channel has it shifting to the east a bit which is a good thing for us on the west coast. I hope everyone on the east coast gets out as soon as possible.

We have a neighbor that used to live across the street. They live in ATL and are active in his church, charities and schools. He's told us to come up to ATL and he'd find a place for us. I guess if a tornado the size of Texas comes at us, thats our backup plan.

If that happens, will take the SUV loaded up with family and dogs but I'm also taking my car north to save it.
