There's never been an end game in Diablo. The "end game" in D3 is no different than previous Diablo's. Gear grind is the end game.

What made D2 successful was the ladder system. Also, you couldn't respec whenever you wanted for free. You had to make a new character and build it from scratch so you had to have a game plan from the start, which made the game have plenty of replay value that D3 doesn't have.

One of my favorite parts of Diablo was trading, though. There wasn't an auction house so you were constantly interacting with people in games and channels trying to make deals. D3 just swings and misses in the social aspect. You are required to have an internet connection, but you are basically playing a single player game. It's reeruned.

ya POE looks pretty cool. I never played the beta, would I be too far behind everyone else? I hate that in MP games.

Also, do you need a badass rig to play it? this mac can run Diablo 3 great and SC2 even, but Guild Wars 2 was too much for this thing.

Ladders were neat, 12 years ago when a lot of people were dialing up to play online. At this point you need to make some actual end-game content.

Respec-ing for free INCREASES replay value for me.

I'm more inclined to give up on a game than to play through the entirety just to get at 5% more content.

Being able to respec at any time extends the life of the game for me.

Nah it doesn't require that great of a rig, and I haven't played it more than 7 or 8 hours because I don't want to invest in a character that won't be sticking around so hop on it now and get used to it until tomorrow when appearantly there won't be another character wipe. It's not like D3 where you're racing up to the top of the ladder, just enjoy it for what it is...A very nice change for the ARPG genre.

This.

My one complaint about the earlier Diablo games was that if you built your character wrong....you wouldn't find out until later in the game and at that point....it was a waste of time to continue on trying to beat the game. You had to start all over and remember how you ****ed up.

only cuz you're a pussy

:D

Honestly it depends on how long/time consuming the game. Getting to Hell in DII didn't take too long, especially if you joined a group/rushed. Once you got to Hell you found out if you screwed up your build or not. It didn't take long to rebuild a character. Getting the character to level 90+ and doing MF runs is what took the time.

If a characters takes hundreds of hours then some kind of respec helps.

DII just was well done ... casual,hardcore,MF-ing,Trading,Crafting,PvP even a little PK'er danger to make life interesting.
