I must be out of touch.

I've had the same pair of tennis shoes since 2008 lol
Of course, i usually wear some cheap flip flops or riding boots most of the time.
I'm married.
I never go out.

I suppose if I were single it would be a different ball game.

Not necessarily. Quite a bit of the stuff I see guys wearing today sets my gaydar off. Some of it is in this thread. LMAO

Dayze 05-27-2014 12:03 PM

I suppose if I were to 'go out' more, I would put more of an emphasis on my wardrobe. as it is now, I basically go to work, and ride my motorcycle.

So is there any middle ground between haute couture and the frat boy douchebag sneakers and cargo shorts thing?

Frosty 06-18-2014 10:46 AM

If there isn't snow on the ground, I wear barefoot shoes (not the toe shoes).

My current shoes are out of production but the Merrell Tough Glove are close:

http://www.jdk.com/upload/resources/...4f5e151d11.jpg

They are very comfortable and extremely lightweight.

I also have a pair of Trail Glove shoes for hiking.

I'm currently either Reef Flip Flops, Chacos, or Redwing Iron Rangers.

Currently wearing selvedge denim, chacos, and this shirt my wife bought me for Father's day:

I think flip-flops are more frat boy douche.

I’ve tossed all my cargo shorts. Plain flat front only for me. But only wear them when its way too hot to tolerate jeans.

For shirts I wear button-ups most of the time. In summer I roll up the sleeves rather than opt for short-sleeve (never liked that look).

Despite my attempt to get away from sneakers, I don't think dress shoes look good with shorts, so my go-to shoe is air force ones like this but in a darker grey:
<img src="http://kickwatch.files.wordpress.com/2013/09/af1_wolf-grey.jpg" width=500>

InChiefsHeaven 06-18-2014 11:32 AM

Going to Hawaii in November, my wife bought me a couple of "Hawiian shirts". Not gaudy colors, but kind of flower print. Comfortable as hell! Don't know why i didn't think of it earlier...and I like cargo shorts...tons of pockets and they look pretty good on me.

My cargo shorts have also become just work shorts for me as well. I'm also finding myself just rolling up long sleeves on my buttondowns more and more. I have some sweet short sleeves, but I just don't like the way they look on me as much as my long sleeves. I never wear 3 button polos any longer for some reason.

I'm gonna get some Old Navy's linen shorts next time I'm out. Saw them the other day and they look super light and comfortable. Only $20. Need a pair to bum around in other than my expensive linens.

ROFL Yeah, this thread cracks me up.

I wear comfortable shit, and I don't try to pretend I'm a fashion guru. But if you're pushing black sneakers (or half the other shit in the thread) as fashion advice, you need to re-evaluate.

I tend to prefer rolled up long sleeves over short sleeves because I can control just how "rolled up" they are. Short sleeves usually are way higher above the elbow then I want them to be.

I was born without a fashion gene. I work for a company halfway across the country, so it doesn't matter what I wear to the office (there is only me and one other engineer and we don't deal with the public), so I wear shorts and T shirts in the summer and jeans and sweatshirts in the winter. I own one tie and don't know how to tie it. Dressing up is khakis and a button up shirt (or a sweater in the winter)that I may tuck in if extra fancy.

Probably kind of sad, but don't care.

that's fine - I don't expect many on Chief's Planet to understand any brand names outside of maybe Sketchers.

ST is a mystique - it's sought after - much in the same way the following brands are:

Elesse
Le Coq Sportif
or Lotto

I like the solid black - no I wear no shows black socks - and they're true no-shows - available at the Van's store - My new ST's are dope as ****, anybody who knows the 'non mainstream' yet quality shoes - know of Sergio Tacchini.

To each their own, but spare me your it "is a mystique - it's sought after" brands. They look very similar to the shoes all the line cooks wore years ago when I was bartending. If you want to be the fashion guru, how about turning the "fashion challenged male" on to some To Boot New York, Ferragamos or the like? Grown men don't wear shorts and sneakers out at night or sandals. If you are at the beach, playing a sport or have not yet reached adulthood that makes sense. Is your advice to the fashion challenged male to buy Euro track suits and sneakers?

Apparently we have vastly differing fashion sense. Your's appears to be more casual.

Anyone know a good source for decent fitted T-shirts? My son wears them and we are having a hard time finding them. He used to like Target's Mossimo athletic cut T's but they have discontinued those. We have bought the Banana Republic fitted T's before but they can be pretty expensive if you don't catch a sale. They were fairly thin, too, iirc.

Fire Me Boy! 06-19-2014 07:36 AM

This has probably already been covered, but I really only have one pair of work shoes - a pair of black Doc Martens. Are these OK with khaki Docker's as long as I wear a black belt, too?

The traditional rule is not to wear black shoes with khaki (or any shade of brown, no matter how light it is) pants.

But I don't have any brown shoes. And no one's ever said, "Hey man, that looks like shit." Does that mean I have to go buy brown shoes? 'cause that shit's expensive.

You can do whatever you want, I'm just sayin'. My boss wears black shoes with khakis (even though his wife gives him shlt about it).

Traditionally black shoes are very formal. In Europe I believe they are ONLY worn with black pants, which are only worn with tuxes and to funerals.

Here's a chart that shoes brown shoes being a lot more versatile than black:

Not always - The last few posts have been - since I don't go out much w/ being so busy at work. I'm not sparing anyone 'anything' - I have nothing to prove to you.

FYI - I'd wear the ST's out before I'd ever get caught dead in a pair of boots, Salvatore or not.

I'll be glad to post some more examples in my closet. If you'd like some dressy advice. I don't do (nor will I ever) formal - aside from a wedding or funeral. I dress up 'formally' for nobody. I'm not Corporate America's bitch - they're MY bitch. Got it?

Thanks. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to convince him to wear V-neck tees and it looks like most of those are V-neck.

Are the American Rag tees always slim fit? They don't specifically say other than that they are "a flattering fit".

When your wife starts making choices on your clothing its time to start shopping for panties.

My tastes lean more towards Duck Dynasty styling s!

I did check out some of the good Dr's suggestions. While I liked it, unless it's implanted with a blowjob from a hot milf magnet, I will not be buying this $345 Ferragamo belt any time soon.

there is nothing wrong with them - except on Dr. Ryan - aside from that they're fine. Not my cup - but there's nothing wrong w/ them. I just don't need criticism - when I'm discussing casual clothing - nor do I need a set of rules to adhere to because society says we're to wear only golf shirts at age 40. If I do a tee that could be considered 'younger' - it's always toned down and fairly conservative.

Simply Red 06-22-2014 06:48 AM

I do, but not something like a suit. He has to do that. I do love buying men's clothes though. I buy shirts for him at Dillards and Brooks Brothers because their merchandise is so irresistible. I have bought him casual shoes like Sperry Topsiders and loafers.

Once I bought something he never wore. I asked him why and he said it looked like something a gay would wear.

BTW, put those pics up as a joke—just to get a reaction.
