Maybe Tennessee also.

They have a lot of salary cap room and their HC is the former OC in Cincy.

The more I watch Chase Claypool's tape. The more he looks like an obviously MVS replacement who has better hands tbh. In his first season he got 900 yards and 13 total touchdowns. In his second season he got 860 yards. Both of those years were with Big Ben. Then he had to play with Rudolph, a rookie Fields and Trevor Simien before going to Miami for a few games last season.

So did he really fall off or did he suffer at the hands of bad QB's? He's just 25 years old, 6'4, ran a 4.42 and has got 800 plus yards the two years he had a decent qb. Saw a clip of him go one on one with Sauce Gardner and beat him down the field with ho problems.

These are the undervalued talents Veach loves to scoop up. We'll see if my intuition comes true.

wazu 03-11-2024 09:30 AM

So who are we tracking today at WR? I've got the following as a starting point from Google.

Marquise Brown
Calvin Ridley
Darnell Mooney
Gabe Davis

Gravedigger 03-11-2024 09:30 AM

Chase Claypool has woefully underperformed everywhere he's been, too much of a risk for suck on that one.

In fairness though, what's the risk? I'm assuming he'd be really cheap. And let's not pretend the bar for the Chiefs is all that high. Claypool has put up 800+ yards twice. Mecole Hardman has never come close to that. Neither has MVS.

That's an expensive way to keep the tush push in the game plan. And that's not even taking into account Jason Kelce isn't there to anchor it.

EXACTLY. The last WR's we got who had 800 plus yards multiple times before coming to KC was who? SAMMY WATKINS and JUJU. Claypool is younger and cheaper than both of those guys were when we got them. Too many folks love to look at the surface without taking a look at things in finer details. Put Claypool with Pat and I'd be extremely confident he does better than MVS, Watson, Moore and Toney. No doubts whatsoever.

The risk is what we saw last year. Thinking reclamation project receivers would be a big part of the offense but once they fail the offense stalls.

Oh I definitely don't want to bet it all on Claypool. We need to either have a solid FA add, or a high draft pick spent. Signing somebody like Claypool would need to be in addition to that.

Appreciate it. Went back and watched his two years playing with Big Ben and it was eye opening. Kid had everything and was winning at all three levels plus doing sweeps and Jet plays. We'd have nothing to lose taking a chance on him imo.

wazu 03-11-2024 09:55 AM

We are losing the following WRs this year unless they come back on a new FA contract:

Mecole Hardman
Justin Watson
MVS
Richie James

Claypool has played at a higher level than any of those four. We have room.

Rehab his image here. He has ability, and is much more of an actual football player than Toney or Skyy.

The issue with him has never really seemed to be a question of talent, but rather character. He'll be on his 4th team in 5 seasons. I don't think you can just wave that off. If the Chiefs feel comfortable with him, great, im all for it. But there's smoke there for sure.

I’d rather have OBJ as the veteran WR addition… as long as the price is reasonable of course.

His age, 31 is the big drawback, but he was reportedly very good at mentoring the young WR’s in Baltimore last year and he averaged 16.1 YPC.

For whatever reason Tomlin can somewhat keep these character issue WRs focused and at least producing. I don’t buy the excuse of his QBs in Chicago. If he was decent to good he would have been force fed and maybe had inflated numbers above his abilities. And the Dolphins had some WR injury concerns at times but he could barely make the field there. I’d look elsewhere.

Some teams just never run out of money. Clark Hunt is cheap.

Kind of weird that Swift is the First one to fall honestly.

FloridaMan88 03-11-2024 10:14 AM

Wonder if this heats up the Barkley to Philly rumblings.

wazu 03-11-2024 10:14 AM

It's amazing how negotiations can begin and end with a deal ready to sign in under 14 minutes.

I’d rather have OBJ as the veteran WR addition… as long as the price is reasonable of course.

His age, 31 is the big drawback, but he was reportedly very good at mentoring the young WR’s in Baltimore last year and he averaged 16.1 YPC.

You are trolling, right?

I want to see these NFC teams like the Bears sign all the top free agents.

If I'm Swift with all the RBs out there and someone offers me 8mm/yr, I'm jumping at that deal, especially with the excitement around that team when they draft Caleb Williams.

That's interesting. That would be a huge blow for an OL that just lost their starting C too.

Sassy Squatch 03-11-2024 10:19 AM

Wouldn't be upset if we targeted him

It's almost like these guys met at the combine and worked out a few things beforehand...

Feels like he may be trolling. Why would they cut their starting LT and best OL?

pugsnotdrugs19 03-11-2024 10:21 AM

Go get Dawkins

Yeah, I was just thinking that.

Need a vet option at LT. He’s played with the closest skillet to Mahomes.

Could be a nice fit.

They should start the legalized tampering period at the Combine.

They could make it another made for TV NFL Network event.

The Bills are out of the running to retain the services of Dion Dawkins. It's another big loss for the Bills. (Dion said farewell on Twitter.)

Man... hope we're on the phone with him! Good player.

(HA!!! Dion was messing around. That's cold. LMAO )
