Nebraska fans are going to have to come to terms with the fact that they are in the same boat as Iowa, Northwestern, and the rest of the Big 10 West.

8-4 and a bowl game isn't a bad season. Going to a premiere bowl or BCS game every 5 or 6 years should be the goal. But Nebraska fans just can't handle that thought, so they're going to be perennially disappointed.

Some fan bases will never understand how much things have changed, there are some perennial powers that won't ever return to that.

Even Michigan and Ohio State will have to accept it eventually. Football is moving south with the rest of the nation. People are migrating to the coasts and the southern border at a steady rate over the last 25 years.

This isn't true it's not 2005 anymore. Expectations have changed. The fanbase isnt even freaking out over being 0-6 most didnt think we would be this good. Frost even said this summer that year 2 is when they would start winning some games. They've had 20 guys transfer since he took over and hello Mike Riley was the old coach. Look at how new coaches did when they took over the year after he left.

Maybe your expectations have changed but for the majority of Husker fans I'm around, they absolutely haven't. They're already talking about firing Frost.

Those Husker fans that you're around have way too high expectations for year one. Nebraska has a lot of issues to fix, and one year isn't going to be enough time to fix it all.

Flipside is the 0-6 start. That's the worst ever for Nebraska.

It's not even about year one. It's about accepting what Nebraska football is going to be now, forever. The days of being a perennial powerhouse are over.

I'm not sure. They're already both competitive in recruiting outside of their region. Michigan's problem, much like with Texas, has been coaching, for years. The reality is there's always going to be more talent available than there are scholarships, across the nation. Northern schools may never bridge the talent gap Alabama is building in football, but I think major schools in major conferences will always have the ability to find players.

The NCAA may also take a hand in keeping the playing field even. That's really what we're seeing, aside from Alabama: parity. Which is I think good for the survival of the sport as a whole. No more building dynasties may suck for the likes of Ohio State (Michigan hasn't been one in decades...) but if it helps keep eyes on the sport and butts in the seats, then it's worth it.

Things are looking up for Nebraska since joining the Big 10. They are now legitimately a worse football program than Iowa and one of the laughingstocks of the Big 10. No different than Indiana or Northwestern. But hey - your basketball team is on the rise! 0-1 in the NIT last year - but at least they made the postseason.

Nebraska is a basketball school now. They just haven't accepted it yet.

Doesn't help when his predecessor didn't recruit well enough and the cupboard is pretty bare.

Hawkeyes come in at #19 in latest poll! Going to be big time favorites in every game remaining except for Penn State. I don't really see how Iowa DOESNT go 9-2 at the bare minimum.

Not probably going to happen this year. Iowa isn't spectacular but they are sound and solid. Northwestern and Penn State are probably the toughest games left. NW always gets up for Iowa.

I don't know a single person around here that ever wanted him gone. Most of us know what this program is and what it's ceiling is. Ferentz can stay here as long as he wants.

I know a few on another board that did the year before the Rose Bowl. The payoff would have been bit large.

But there was no one out there that would have been better. Maybe we could have hired Scott Frost.

Ferentz went 1-10 his first year.

It is funny regarding recruiting Riley put up top 25 classes but those players are soft. The freshman QB Frost got will be every bit as good as Milton and hes already brought in playmakers. The offensive line has been coached up a little bit but Iowas is much better. Your Dline is much better and physical. It's not like those are a bunch of 4* and 5* guys either. Give Frost sometime the trenches will be improved and hes got 4* guys coming in. The Linebackers are way improved and pretty athletic.

Our secondary is hot garbage and the biggest reason we are 0-6 outside of the injury to Martinez.

Seriously give it another year theres going to be some great Iowa/Nebraska games with the division on the line. You guys will beat us this year.
