We have consistently had good backs beginning with finding Priest in the Vermeil years. Which is a pretty impressive streak. But prior to that, you can't say that. Yes, we traded for Marcus Allen and we had Okoye, Word and Williams for a while. But we had times in there where we had squat at running back.

He didn't make guys miss in the backfield.

05 and 06 he was absolutely elite in every way, though.

Firstly his attitude was shit when he arrived. Besides being a petulant whiner who thought everything was about him, he was also a low life woman beating dipshit.

He was great in 05, when KC had 3 HOFers on the OL and nobody ever touched him in the backfield. He was unstoppable if he got to full speed.

06 was a result of high volume and the number of times he ran the ball up his Center's ass with a running lane available was astounding.

My dislike of Larry Johnson isn't revisionist. I said in 05 that he was a flash in the pan back and KC should trade him while he has value. I compared him to Chris Warren, and said he'd wash out within 3 years. I gave him too much credit. Chris Warren lasted longer and gained more yards than LJ did.

I took heat for it then, but nobody can convince me it would have been the wrong move. Green Bay was ready to hand KC a king's ransom for the guy.

I don't know where this imaginary version of him came from where he was a patient elusive RB with good vision. He was exactly what I said he was from the day KC drafted him until he was ran out of town. I think Rudy Niswanger (however you spell that guy's name, don't care enough to look it up) still has LJ's helmet lodged in his ass.

Okoye didn't have a banner year (over 1,000 yards rushing) until his 3rd season and only replicated that once over the next 4 seasons.

I dont see why this needs to be an argument, I said we've been blessed with running backs through the years as much or more than any other team... and will stand by that

Podolak
Garret was a two time pro bowler
Abner Haynes made it three times
Delaney
Okoye
Word
Allen
Priest
LJ
Charles
And now Hunt

We've done pretty damn well

Podolak gets propped up by one spectacular game.
Overall, he was pretty pedestrian.

Delaney was the one bright spot between the days of Garret and Okoye.

The 70's, 80's and much of the 90's were mostly "meh".

This glut of RBs didn't start until Priest.

Also, I'm standing by my pre draft assessment that Fournette is a 3.5 YPC back. I don't see what made everyone drool.

It was weird to see KC so run heavy in the first half.

I think Hunt had more carries on the first drive than he did in the first half last week.

Yeah, really glad he took another 6-8 completely unnecessary shots in a game that was clearly decided.

That was exactly the kind of game where he'd done his job and it was time to sit him. Reid leaned hard on him in the 1st and that's fine - no problem trying to soften up the D and get some rhythm with the OL.

But c'mon, he'd taken a pounding in the 1st and guys were dropping like flies. When you were up 3 scores in the 4th it was time to get Akeem and West a few carries. You don't send him out there to keep absorbing punishment.

That stuff does pile up.

I’m not so sure.

No way a guy can be such a destroyer with the ball in his hands and just a minor speed bump without.

Idk. There’s no way to tell, really.. whether it’s technique or effort, it can be fixed.

If Kareem Hunt is returning punts then we have more problems than a rushing title. He was getting 13 yards then out. Chill out

jjchieffan 12-31-2017 07:52 PM

It was awesome that he got the title on exactly one carry. 35 yards and a TD! That's how you do it. I remember back when Steve Young needed just a bit to break a record for quarterback rating or something in a meaningless game. He came in and executed a perfect drive. No incompletions and a TD. He got the record and went to the bench. It was reckless for the 49ers to risk their QB on a record, but it worked out. Worked out great for Hunt and the Chiefs too.

Yes it was. You cannot play scared if you are going play in the NFL. He got it on one play and a touchdown out of it and then sat the rest of the game.

Hammock Parties 01-04-2018 10:11 AM

PFF OROY!

Quote:

3. KAREEM HUNT, RB, KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

PFF Grade: 89.4

PFF Elite Stat: Hunt had 19 runs of at least 15 yards this season, the most among all running backs.

In a race that was close right up until the very end, Hunt just barely edges out Alvin Kamara for PFF’s Offensive Rookie of the Year honor.

Hunt ranks third among running backs in terms of overall grade at the season’s end, second in rushing grade and 13th in receiving grade. Hunt ranked fifth among running backs with a 7.0 explosive run rate (a run of at least 15 yards), and that number gets amplified by the fact that he had the sixth-highest carry total in the league – he had the ball in his hands more than most, and more than most, he took that ball and made a big play with it.

Hunt was also wildly successful when it came to forcing missed tackles this season. He finished the season with a league-leading 77 forced missed tackles; only two other running backs (Melvin Gordon and Le’Veon Bell) broke more than 60. After the first month of the season, it looked like Hunt was going to run away with this award before Kamara stepped in and made this one of the tightest races of the year. When the smoke cleared and the dust settled, Hunt is your 2017 PFF Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Pasta Little Brioni 01-04-2018 10:41 AM

Yup, Hunt is a real workhorse guy who can give you 30 carries a game, and can also be a very productive receiver

Kamara is more like a Reggie Bush, Sproles type... he cant carry the load

Pasta Little Brioni 01-04-2018 11:10 AM

He's Jamaal the 2nd. Workload would break him.

ThaVirus 01-04-2018 11:22 AM

Work load never killed Jamaal.

Kamara is like 215. Hilariously, he weighs the same as Mark Ingram. Difference is Ingram is like 5'8" and Kamara 6'.

There's really not much difference in size and build between Kamara and Lesean McCoy. No RB has more carries since McCoy was drafted and he's still one of the top backs in the league.

We don't know if Kamara can handle a heavy workload. You guys are just being homers.

I’ll tell you what has me concerned. And I’ve kept it off CP because I figured I would get roasted and I’m hoping it’s not a big deal and that I’m wrong...

But Steven Nelson posted a ”story” to Instagram (a video that only stays up for 24 hours, for those who do not know) about 3 weeks ago. A bunch of the Chief dudes were at a pool party... and Hunt.... has a belly. Like a legit beer belly. People were even mentioning it in the comments, so it wasn’t just me who thought it.

Hoping it’s just his stocky frame. But it was a belly.

He'll be fine, he is probably CARB loading before Training camp. RB's typically lose between 15-25 Pounds each year during camp.

I have just checked Nelson's Instagram and there is a picture showing Hunt I guess at that pool party.

I'm not even sure that's overweight for a RB.

If that was a CB I would say for sure but RBs tend to have that stocky frame.

It was shirtless, at least the one I am talking about. It was a jiggly belly.

FFS Chiefsplanet needs a rehaul on the post functions. Here's the link- I will embed it once I figure it out:

For the record I'm not sure if this is the photo but I imagine it is at the same function Dante was referring to above. Kareem Hunt is fine weight wise IMO, the two altercations is what has me more worried.

vbulletin doesn't play nicely with certain file types.

Comments on this one were the ones that reminded me about the story video..., but the video I’m talking about was a few weeks further back. Looks a little slimmer since the first one (maybe OTA’s helped?)

Simply Red 06-06-2018 10:07 AM

was that the picture Dante?

Edit: Oh okay. He'll be fine.

To be fair, I’m not sure any of us saw him before last season without a shirt or whatever. He may just have that body style.
