Betting Al Davis's kid feels like this is his version of signing John Madden to coach the team.. now just kick back and watch the wins come in. Doubtful.

I don't get this notion that Johnson was somehow "bad" or below average. When healthy, he was a solid, if not above average NFL QB. |
I have to imagine this is a lot of window dressing and can't be fully guaranteed. What if he ends up disappointing and they want to move on after 5 years? There has to be some sort of buyout language where Davis isn't handing him 50M otherwise this is the stupidest contact in history.

The truth is that he was a Brad Johnson level NFL coach when people make him out to be elite. Personally, I wouldn't have traded the life of an NFL commentator making $6.5 million per year for a coach making $10 million, either, but that's his decision. |
I like it. It's a win-win. Fade pays top dollar for an average coach, and the fans don't have to listen to spider 2Y banana anymore.

This seems like more of a P.R. move than a football move. The Raiders are stuck in Oakland for at least 2 more seasons and they can't sell 50,000 seats, so maybe Gruden's presence will help. It'll also help sell PSL's when the new stadium open in Vegas. I just don't expect him to win many football games along the way. Also, a contract that runs to 2027? LMAO That's insane. |

And then he LJ'd Cadillac Williams. |
10 years is too long for any coach not named hoodie. The message gets old before then.
You look at most long tenured coaches and the messge is stale before 10 years hits unless you're winning rings. |
We shall see if his heart is truly in it.....or it was just an offer he could not refuse to help pad his retirement account......
at the very least it will be fun having Chucky in the division again. |
