Clay, those are along the lines of what I was looking at (black), but I'm surprised you'd drop that kind of coin. This would be the first time I'll spend over three bills for a pair of shoes.

I got mine secondhand on Ebay. :)

If you want to spend less coin I think ecco is a good quality shoe, and very comfortable too. Also have them at Dillards if you want to try a few pairs on.

No, I have two pairs of Ecco's and they are great when I have to do a lot of walking or standing. But I'm looking for something a little more polished and don't mind spending the extra money to get a true dress shoe for important occasions.

Allen Edmonds has some nice cap toe oxfords for wearing with a suite that hold up very well with wear. These two are a little harder to find on sale but they usually do something after Christmas or Nordstrom may include in their semi-annual sales.

Fifth Avene (my preference but slightly less formal)

Used shoes? Did you take them to your local bowling alley to have them disinfected before wearing them? Loosen the purse strings, cheapskate.

There's some great shit on Ebay if you shop smart. I'd rather buy a pair of quality used shoes than some lower quality brand new.

Very satisfied with my purchase.

Simply Red, I need some advice. I am changing my stage wardrobe. I have a direction I thought about going, but it's not set in stone.

The problem is, since ~ 1984, I have worn thin lapel jacket/coat/whatever they're called, white dress shirt, thin tie, Levis 501s, loud argyle socks that didn't match (I take my shoes off when I play), and some kind of real "stylish" shoes that I got from Harold Penner.

Well now I find out that people who dress that way are hipsters. I am too old to be a hipster, so I can't dress like that anymore.

Thinking about going with a look like the goofy old guy on Mary Tyler Moore's show that wore college and team sweatshirts.

I'm tired of typing for now, will add more later.

Clay, serious question. Are you poor? If so, I feel for you. If not, you have to be the cheapest mother****er on the planet.

No, but I am frugal, and I don't believe in spending a lot on belts.

I almost never pay full price for anything.

Nothing wrong with being frugal.

Being cheap would mean not buying nicer clothes at all and going to Walmart or Target for the most part for your clothes.

Belts can be expensive too just go to a nice department store and check out the prices on them.

Found this at a local Dick's Sporting Goods in Phoenix. Was on the clearance rack but only the original price was showing for $99 so not sure the total cost. But $99 is a steal anyway. I'll go back and get this retro style jacket if someone wants it. It really was beautiful.
