Rivers could fall off the cliff at any point.

I didn't watch a lot of their games last year but I know that Austin Ekeler scored a ton of fantasy points for me as a backup RB. I still have him this year, so being a starter would be even better. Go ahead and sit out Melvin.

Why do I hear "Traded to the Jets" in my mind?

Yep, Ekeler is a lot better than just a back up IMHO.

We have a running gag in my fantasy league about Melvin Gordon. We draft via auction, and one of the owners was using his phone. When he put in a bid for Melvin Gordon, he was trying to type a bid in the 20s, but he accidentally fat-fingered it and did 123. He was also not very observant for some reason, because he didn't notice his bid was $123 when he pressed the submit button.

So we're all being having a nice time and quickly boosting up the price in $1 or $5 increments, and out of nowhere.... SOLD! $123

We were all stunned for a few seconds, then laughed our asses off at him. Also, a bunch of people changed their team names to something related to 123, like "Easy as 123" or "I'd buy that for $123!"

Gordon is playing the leverage game and in reality he's right to do it. The Chargers don't have the fan base or the history like the Steelers to make a stand and get supported in it.

The Chargers are a team that desperately needs to matter right now. With their aging QB, in a lot of ways he has them over a barrel here because of their overall situation.

Think about this situation through John Dorsey's eyes. They have two great RB's and one pretty solid RB in Cleveland. Hunt is in the last year of his contract scheduled to make $975K and has been injury free for the most part of his collegiate and NFL career. He trades Hunt to the Chargers for cheap just to spite the Chiefs, The Bolts trade Gordon for equal or better compensation, and Hunt gets to play against the team that prematurely cut his ass twice a season. The Star and the media in general can kiss my ass.

Why do Chiefs fans constantly dream up scenarios and possibilities where the team gets ****ed? They do it ALL the time-- season and offseason alike.

Every promising player we have to cut in training camp is going to sign with a division rival and turn into a future HOFer, where he takes extra care to **** the Chiefs for those two games every season. Remember when Mike Catapano got cut in camp and signed with the Jets, and all the Chiefs fans were like, "I'll betcha Catapano is gonna play angry when he plays us this season! He's totally gonna get like 4 sacks on the Chiefs because he's gonna get pumped up!" Or the predictions of the refs jobbing us over in important games that result in losses. Yes, that one actually does occur on occasion, but there are MULTITUDES of weirdos who describe the scenario in their heads almost as if they're fantasizing and downright sexually aroused at the very thought. And injuries... holy crap, the number of ****ing idiots who spew "Mahomes is gonna get hurt" shit is just astounding.

"Hey guyz I just thought of something! What if Mahomes gets hurt this year but still wants FAR beyond highest paid QB in the league money, because he doesn't trust the Kansas City media to leave well enough alone, and if he's gonna sit here for the rest of his career, he's gonna need all the money to numb the pain of living here? And Veach doesn't want to give it to him because of the slight injury concern? What if Dallas also wants to let Dak walk, and then offers us zillions of draft picks and several top players for Mahomes, and Veach accepts? Then what if Dak wins like 6 Super Bowls with Mahomes and faces us in the Super Bowl for several of those years and just demolishes us each and every time?"

Seriously... Chiefs fans are into pain porn. They ****ing love it. Kind of like Chiefaholic here. He even said the reason why he brought it up is because he hates the media pressure that supposedly made Clark cut Kareem Hunt. So he invents this rich scenario in a random ****ing Melvin Gordon thread out of the goddamn blue as a way for Kareem Hunt to **** with the Chiefs because he thinks they deserve to be punished for some stupid ****ing reason. He doesn't think of ways for Denver or Oakland or any other team to get the punitive end of the justice stick up their ass... nooo... it has to be Kansas City who suffers the consequences... just for being Kansas City!

I don't ****ing care about Kareem Hunt. Nobody should care about him. He's not going to be around for half the season, and when he does show up he's gonna be fighting for carries with Nick Chubb, who has had last year and half of this year to cement himself as the lead back. Kareem Hunt doesn't ****ing matter to KC, yet people always talk like we would have won the Super Bowl if we didn't cut him. No we ****ing wouldn't have. Commissioner's ****ing exempt ****ing list, morons. And while it would have been good to trade him or at least let him walk and get a comp pick, we at least don't have to deal with a bullshit contract standoff like Gordon is currently putting the Chargers through. So much the better, because you damn well better believe that when Mahomes gets his deal, all RBs (no matter how good they are) will not be receiving any contracts of significance.

While I agree with the majority of your post here, where I will disagree is that Hunt will be fighting for carries when he comes back. I predict by the 2nd or 3rd game of his return he will be getting more touches either run/pass and probably both than Chubb. To me Chubb is a very good backup but not a big playmaker type of back that Hunt has demonstrated to be. Hunt is also better out of the backfield on the pass than Chubb is which fits their offense better. Dorsey guessed right that just in case Hunt does not get Ray Rice'd and is only suspended for a period of time then he now has an All Pro Back on the Cheap that is a big playmaker for the playoff run.

Now with that said, fantasy owners draft Tyreek early because you know he will only be getting a 1 or 2 game suspension if any. And draft Hunt in the mid to late rds BUT you may want to draft a tad earlier than that knowing how he plays going into your own playoffs.:thumb:

You're a ****ing moron. Dorsey is trying to build a winner and trading Hunt isn't how you win with a rookie HC and a 2nd year QB.

I hope they pay him a ton.

I don't think he's anything special at all. With the level of threat they have in the passing game, I think he holds the offense BACK.

 He's good out of the backfield as well. He is a decent option as a pass catching RB.

Ah... an RB who gets injured a lot, averaged less than 4 YPC for his first 3 seasons, who is a 'decent' option as a pass catching RB.

He's not an elite RB, but he thinks he is.

Give him 13 million a year or something. I hope they do. Fully guaranteed.

Heh.
