That's a beautiful reply. Sure understand. I don't usually share real personal stuff on the CP, but I'm just so filled with joy today I wanted to share a couple pictures. The one below is The Lovely Mrs. B and two of my best friends in the world: Derrek in the middle, and Gary on the right. This is tailgating before a game at Arrowhead in 2002. Derrek and Gary and I were through all the Chiefs battles in the 1970s up till 2016 when we lost Derrek. I wish he could have been here today so I could call him and celebrate this day.

This is a picture of my parents. This is in Hot Spring, Arkansas, drawing spring water for me to bring back to KC. It was something I did every Chrismas from around 1990 to when my dad passed in 2011. He died a week after our playoff loss to the Ravens, and at the time I thought of how tragic it was that in his 80 year of life he only saw the Chiefs win one Super Bowl. My mom just passed last May. In this picture from 2003, dad is wearing one of his many Chiefs caps -he probably had a dozen of them- and my mom is wearing her Chiefs sweatshirt. Both of their names are on a brick underneath the Lamar Hunt Statue in the Founders Plaza. I felt like they were with me yesterday.

First of all....nice to see like all of us guys, you married up. :D

There's nothing like the bond between a child and parents, no matter how old we are. I liked that you had something representing them both at the game yesterday. I am sure they were watching with pride....

It's hard when parents are gone and everyone gets to talk about spending time with theirs. And it's just as hard when friends are no longer with us...

My hats off to you for remembering them George.

One of the guys in the group is a diehard Colts fan and he has been chiding me since last Sunday. Reminded me of our horrible defense, our known playoff collapses, and how Luck was going to eat us alive. Said the Colts defense was going to show the NFL how to stop Mahomes.....

I haven't seen a text from him since the score went to 14-0.... :)

I was doing fine after the game....all excited (and anticipating your column). I went to say something to my wife and passed by the picture of my dad in the hallway.

My dad is the man who taught me all about baseball and football and stoked my love of the game. We bonded over sports, even in the years (teens and twenties) I was a bit of a rebel. I didn't make it to say anything to my wife...I walked back into my study and sat and cried....for the win and for my dad.

Great read as always George...

Touching. My dad just passed away on Thanksgiving day. I told him on his death bed he needed to hold on a couple more months to witness a Mahomes playoff series.
