Including his 2014 year, then, that means he's down for 5 years, $51m.

He's also older than Albert by about four years I think. Though he does have a similar injury history.

This does beg the question -- WTF are the Eagles thinking? They did just spend the #4 overall pick on Lane Johnson. They seriously want to play Lane at RT for his entire rookie contract?

I can't get over this. Boy, nothing says "you really sucked hard" to your #4 overall pick than signing the guy at the position he was supposed to take over to $50m dollars after one season.

He's three years older than Albert. I'm with you that it doesn't bode well at all for Lane Johnson. Jeez, how fucking horrible was the draft last year.

2012: best QB in a generation comes out

2014: best DL in a generation comes out + 3 potential franchise QBs

but

2013: an OT race to the bottom with Eric Fisher, Luke Joeckel, and Lane Johnson

God hates the Chiefs.

Today's rookie contracts allow this to happen without a problem. Peters is a top flight LT. Johnson will be a reasonably priced RT for the next couple of years.

Seattle got their franchise QB in the 3rd round last year. So it can be done. Just not by us.

Actually, it could have been done by us. Thank goodness we drafted a backup tackle right before Wilson, though. I mean how could anyone have known what a dynamic playmaker he was? They would have had to watch, like, a single Wisconsin game! Who could have done that!

He hates the Royals too! Don't forget about us being stuck with Hochevar, who was sandwiched around Justin Upton and David Price. And with Strasburg and Harper following a year or two later.

I don't remember one person wanting Russ in KC at the time
The midget's play was a surprise to everyone.

My older brother was obsessed with watching Wilson all year, and thusly forced me to watch with him.

Wilson has absolutely every tool except height. He is incredibly smart, high character, understands the offense, mobile, pocket awareness, and has an accurate CANNON.

If he were 6'3, he'd be contending RG3 for the second QB taken.

I'm still pissed that we didn't draft Wilson. Guy is so smart, has a cannon for an arm, avoids sacks like ex-girlfriends, and just flat-out makes plays.

Good for them. Probably gives them more cap room to work with too, just like the Suggs deal.

First report I've seen on that says it frees up something like $2 million.

Sign lane at right tackle. Money and move him to left after rookie contract. Brilliant.

I know live in an "instant satisfaction" era, but we have to give all these guys some time and let it play out.

That said, 2013 was a weak draft overall and I have heard that if Fisher was coming out this year, he would be drafted around 10th. There were just very few playmakers last year.

A one year deal for Maclin in Philly makes no sense.

Also, for you Athan lovers there's this

@ChiefsInsider: #Chiefs & LT Brandon Albert not likely going to get a deal done. Told his camp turned down offer better than Peters deal w/ #Eagles Next?

Jadeveon Clowney
Teddy Bridgewater
Johnny Manziel
Blake Bortles
Sammy Watkins
Greg Robinson
Jake Matthews
Taylor Lewan
Khalil Mack
Anthony Barr
Justin Gilbert
Ha Ha Clinton-Dix

There may even be more these were just the easy picks.

Peters is one of the top LT I know he is a couple of years older but if BA turned done a per year amount that Peters signed for he needs a new agent.

I absolute hate the Fisher pick, but I wouldn't take Manziel or Bridgewater.

I have little faith that Manziel will ever be a pocket passer, and stay healthy.
Bridgewater's slight frame screams Sam Bradford.

I hope so. He eventually moves to LT and becomes top 10 is about my hope/expectations at this point. Like others have said just our bad luck to have top pick in a crappy year.

Greg Robinson is definitely superior though. Fisher's power comes nowhere near close to what Robinson has; Robinson can move just as well as Fisher can.

Robinson moves very well, but there are maybe two tackles in the NFL that move better than Eric Fisher. His athleticism is off the charts.

Robinson crushes Fisher in the power department, however.
