I picked us to win by 3 for no particular reason.
I think it'll be close/even heading into halftime, although it's possible one team could be further ahead. Our first string offense might be on the field the entire half, which would be good, but you have to temper that with the realization that we're playing a decent aggressive defense and it might pose some problems we haven't seen yet.
On defense, I think we'll do okay. Boselli is out, McCardell is out and Smith, if he plays will be limited. While "fragile" Freddy Taylor is a great back, I just don't think he and Brunell can do it all alone...
I really don't have a feel for this game, though, to be honest.

I picked the Chiefs by 7. I figured with the current state of the Jags roster a 7 point win isnt out of the question but I wouldnt allow myself to pick the Chiefs by fourteen. But I really would like for that to be the case. By the way, is the game going to be on ESPN this week or will I be stuck watching the Ravens again? If not I guess I will have Chiefs Fox Football Radio Network!! Got to love the Price CHOOPER! commericals. LOL

Not televised again, I'm afraid.
The Rams game is the only national preseason contest. :(

I thought with it being a Thursday night contest, it would be on ESPN. Guess I'll be headed to the sportsbar again....

Typical. I live n Missouri and cant see a Chiefs pre-season game. Of course i'm stuck on the lambs side of the state so I get most of their games  I would rather spend quality time with my Girlfriend then watch a lambs game. Oh wait I didnt mean that. LMAO! GO CHIEFS!

14+ Total Homer pick.
KC,
I personally like the “Real American Heroes” commercials.

Radar,
I would have to agree about the 14+ being a homer pick. Also, I like the "Real American Hero" commericals also. 99% of the time I turn off the sound on the TV during the season and listen to the radio. Can't stand most of the TV announcers! Plus the info on player injuries is quicker and better on the radio.

We haven't won in the state of FL since 1993, when we beat the crap out of the Bucs on Opening day. There is still some lingering bad Karma in FL from the Lowery miss in the 1991 playoffs with Miami. I am going with the Jags by 10.

~still can't believe we lost the '91 game.

Damn! I'm startin the think some of you have lost all confidence in the defense. 3 people picked the Chiefs to lose by 14 or more. Hmmmm...

I picked loss by 14 or more. We have a worse record playing in florida than the Bucs have playing in below freezing weather. Until I see otherwise, I'll pick that way. :(
However, if this were a regular season game, I would pick a win by 7....

Come to think of it. Have we ever beat the Jags? I just saw that we were 0-2 vs the Jags? But that was updated only to the 99 season.

We beat the Jags in preseason in '98 at KC. That was the first game I had attended at Arrowhead since the place was new when I was a kid.
It was an empty victory, though. Our scrubs came back and beat their scrubs after their starters pounded the crap out of our starters throughout the first half. An ominous sign of the thoroughly forgettable season to come.
As for playing in Florida, I honestly can't remember the last time we won down there against anyone. But I think the curse ends Thursday. If our defense can't get continual penetration against Jacksonville's decimated offensive line, then we've got some serious problems.
Frazod predicts:
Chiefs 24
Jags 17

Chiefs won in Tampa Bay in September '93. Then the Curse began...
