All current country singers suck. I'm not categorically anti-country, but it's as bad as it's ever been right now. They are all too busy trying to write the next "best wedding song evah!" to actually make entertaining music.
And Toby Keith can't die soon enough.

She really has an awesome voice. Our local Tulsa radio station plays the Star Spangled Banner by a different artist every morning. Faith is the best of all with Ray Charles a close second. Whitney Houston gets third place.

He's pretty good, though Country is turning more into pop these days. Rascal Flatts shouldn't even be considered Country music. I watched the Academy of Country Music Awards tonite and listened to Tim McGraw sing live and he was singing flat through the entire song, he was terrible.

The trend towards Pop started about 15-16 years ago when Garth Brooks hit the scene. He incorporated alot of pop songs in his concerts and performances. He has also admitted growing up listening to alot of 70's popular rock. He definately had on influence on todays country artists because he was the first HUGE country/pop crossover artist.

I went through a phase when I listened to country a lot. But it was rockin stuff like Montgomery Gentry and Pat Green stuff. I agree, this country that's out right now is written as wedding music. It has no soul, it's just 3 minutes of the country eqivalent to Whitney Houston. BLEH!

He's not that bad...in his early days he was much better. Someone has given him the impression that he need's to be a 'crossover' artist. One of this best songs was "That's Why I'm Here", about the effects of alcoholism...
Most of today's "Country" stars are what used to fit into the mainstream pop genre....there are just a few left who actually do what most view as "country".....George Strait, Alan Jackson are a couple.
Lot of the kids nowadays love the "new country" artists like Montgomery/Gentry, Big & Rich, and Gretchen Wilson...
I'll take Martina, Sara Evans, Faith Hill anyday.....

The Best Active, traditional Country artist right now is Brad Paisley. George Strait has pretty much sold out to cookie cutter songs, outside of "i hate everything" for the past decade.

Ah, she probably didn't bust his balls about crap, kept her mouth shut and just spread her legs. With him having the money he does, it was probably worth the payments to not deal with groupies or stupid girls to get laid.

Brad Paisley's recent duest with Alison Kraus was traditional of the old George Jones/Tammy Wynette or Porter Wagoner/Dolly Parton songs...one of my favorite songs that he does is "Celebrity"....the video is actually pretty funny.
I guess I won't fault George to "selling out" a little, considering that he has lasted longer than a lot of the 'come and go" artists of recent times. I do like his song he has out right now that is on his not-yet-released album, "See You On the Other Side"....
Of course...I was a big Statler Brother's fan too...

I really don't know which of their stuff is older or newer, but I love Neon Moon, Brand New Man, Straight Tequila Night, My Maria, You Can't Take the Honkey Tonk Outta the Girl...Really most of their stuff.
My favorite Brooks and Dunn songs are, She's Not The Cheatin' Kind and Red Dirt Road.

Funny thing is that his first album was very country, and it was successful. I don't know if he felt the need to change his style, or if he just wanted to. Either way I have no problem with it, he's the reason I like country music today. I used to hate the stuff, now I like both the new and the traditional styles.

Hahahaha...
Oh, man... so, the fat, bald, middle aged guy knows who 50 Cent is, and the HS kid doesn't. I hope the earth doesn't open up and swallow me when I leave the office today. This can't be a good sign.
We try harder. I even know who Wallflower is.

Kenny's making the bucks and he's got the country girls wrapped around his little digit and I can't knock that. I wished I sucked that bad..........

It is amazing how he started in the 1990s and still makes the charts.
They never aged him out yet like they did to basically every other 1990s country singer.
As for his music, I like some of his songs. He brings an energy to his music that elevates it beyond the typical Nashville schlock. But it is a sad indictment on Nashville country music that he has been one of the headliners of the last 20 years.

Boy that's no shit. I remember one day I while I was stuck in traffic I started scanning the radio to see if any new stations had popped up worth adding to my presets. Heard a country song that I liked on a station I was unfamiliar with, so I added it. That was probably a couple of years ago, and to this day I've never heard anything else that wasn't awful. Like incomprehensively awful. I can't even imagine how some of that shit is considered country.
I would remove the station from the presets, but since I have 27 presets and there are only five FM stations up here that I can stand (including one news station), what's the point? Of the other four stations, three pretty much seem to play the same 20 songs on a loop, but at least they're mostly songs that I like, and the last one has a deeper selection, but about half the songs are from the 90s grunge era, and I hate grunge like I hate Denver.
I simply don't drive enough to justify the expense of XM or Sirius, so I either just deal with it or listen to my own playlists. IMO, radios that link to smart phones are the best thing to happen to cars since air conditioning.

I love the oldies like Cash, Haggard, Jennings, Nelson, Williams Sr etc etc
But yeah, this new breed can fuck straight off... and that definitely includes Cheesney and his beach bum schtick
I love EVERYTHING about beach life/culture, but none of it has anything to do with country music IMO... new country sucks dognuts, they're all far more interested in being accepted by Hollywood than they are representing country music fans
