frazod let the cat out of the bag when he posted some crap about how important it was to defeat the proposals not because they were that bad, but only because frazod thinks it is a first step towards the government giving him a lobotomy and taking his guns. He posts that sh*t on here, but is he that goofy?

Seems like the President is understandably frustrated with the fact that current politics lets crazy thinking people make Senators afraid.

To the contrary, he sounded like a sore loser.

And don't give me this **** about a minority. The fact that only a minority supported Obamacare didn't stop him or congress from shoving it down our throats. That double standard ain't gonna fly with me.

Obama has spent significant time talking about compromise and having honest conversation with those we don't agree with....the problem is he acts like a 2 year old that had Jake and the Neverland Pirates turned off half way through an episode and spits all of the walls and floor with his temper tantrum when people don't capitulate to his ideals.

Obama is EVERYTHING I thought he would be as POTUS.

Not an apt analogy. These proposals would have had trouble passing the house but if they did and were enacted that would not be the equivalent of Krystallnacht.

You should read some history or talk to some Jewish people that know about that history.

I don't understand why you would think that the government could get to that point as if gun owners and the gun lobby would lose that much of their influence.

They still have a lot of power and would never lose their influence to the point were guns could be confiscated.

People that do not own guns do not begrudge lawful gun ownership and would be opposed to unreasonable restrictions.

I think the problem is that the NRA's fundraising strategy has been to stir people up into believing hysterical nonsense and then when gun regulations that the NRA backed a few years ago get proposed, the NRA gets ready to back them but then hears back from the nuts they have tricked into hysteria and they realize they have to oppose everything or they lose their craziest members.

Anyway, they proved their political influence this week. It is kind of stupid to think they would be all washed up if these minnor changes were passed.

Obama is EVERYTHING I thought he would be as POTUS.
Did you think he would be re-elected, winning a true swing state Iowa?

You have to admit that the GOP tried their best not to work with him so that their guy could win in 2012.

The GOP made that so obvious, that less moderates changed their vote even though they knew that the four years had not been that great.

Sorry, I was chatting with non-scumbags on facebook.

I love the way idiot ****s like you pretend gun-haters don't have a gun-hating agenda. Then say, "well, prove it." Guess what, ****tard, I can't prove what they haven't done yet. I'm just not blind or stupid. They won't stop at registration. They won't stop at the ban of one type of weapon. You are dumb as a ****ing stump if you think otherwise.

And I really don't care what you claim to have done or who you claim to have helped.

You are kinda blind and stupid if you think that the political situation would ever get to that point that gun regulations would ever get that severe.

What happened this week?

Some minor changes in the law got defeated and the winning argument was this stupid sh*t about how stuff that would not be in the proposals would come in later laws.

What country do you think we live in?

You get kind of whacky when it comes to talking about hobbies, but you have to know that it is kind of stupid to celebrate Senate filibusters of minor proposals that you are opposed to, and then in the next breath say that we are that close to the complete abolition of lawful gun ownership.

You should go ahead and post some of the correspondence that the NRA sends you when fundraising or getting out the vote, you're probably too ashamed to let people read the nonsense that you fell for.

we live in a country where in the event that democratically elected representatives don't pass laws as commanded by the potus, potus and vpotus go on tv, throw a fit like spoiled brats and threaten executive orders in defiance.

Also - partly due to Whitman's rampage - the police have SWAT units, and we have heightened awareness and response procedures ingrained in us that they didn't have back then.

Progress, eh?
So...

1) He may or may not have passed a background check. Depends on what they are checking for. If he never committed a violent crime before this there's a good chance he passes.

2) He could just as easily have killed his first three victims with a handgun, which have been largely ignored in this gun control debate for quite some time even though they are statistically far deadlier than rifles.

3) The fact remains that hi cap magazines and the pure bullshit that goes into the definition of an "assault rifle" had nothing to do with his effectiveness in killing several people.

4) Yeah, a SWAT team would have made quite a difference. Maybe we should look into establishing task forces in places where these shootings may be likely to be successful. Like in schools utilizing current employees that can handle firearms, or trained and armed task forces, to ensure a quicker response. Oh, that's right, the NRA suggested that but they're evil so they must be ignored at all costs.

I wonder how many other deluded dumb**** sheep have said "It could never happen here. What country do you think we live in?" It can happen anywhere, and history bears this out. Do you deny that other western countries have not only banned, but confiscated weapons? That there are powerful, entrenched politicians funded by multi-billion dollar warchests who have specifically stated their ultimate goal of gun confiscation? Well, you probably do, don't you? But those of us who aren't koolaid slurping ****s know they're out there, they're real, and they pose a serious threat. Hopefully we'll continue to beat them back. Who are the powerful entrenched politicans funded by million dollar warchests who have specifically stated their ultimate goal of gun confiscation?

Can you show some convincing proof of that?

And you are wrong to think that I am annoyed about the state of gun regulations. I think something ought to be done regards people diagnosed as seriously mentally ill, but I don't care as much about where the line is drawn on the other issues, as I care about the fact that paranoid whackos belief of stupid nonsense becomes the winning argument.

You care about this stuff a lot more than I do, and it might just turn out that your side lost more this week than you gained. See when extremely dumbazz paranoid ideas win, people can see that. Might have been better to agree to some of the proposals now because people that don't really care all that much have seen how the Senators who took your side where disrespectful to the Newtown families by calling them props and that their best arguments was repeating the stupid paranoid nonsense that you have been pooping out.

Anyway let's see some real proof of your claim about powerful entrenched politicans funded by million dollar warchests who have specifically stated their ultimate goal of gun confiscation?
