What era do Democrats look back to as the "Golden Age"?

Yes, and they want another one, so they can get their hooks into everything again.

Props to a commentator over at Human Events for inspiration.

The Great Depression? Certainly the New Deal did pave the way for all that. I'm of the opinion that the New Deal basically prevented socialist rebellions, built the foundation for a war-ready America, and fostered a great sense of community that was captured magnificently by America's standing after WWII. I'm a supporter of the New Deal for many reasons, including that I believe stronger safety nets enable greater innovation and entrepreneurship by citizens, and leisure of course, that beautiful slice of life that allows for religion, education, and happiness to flourish.

Make sure you teach your daughter to wipe down the pole with disinfectant before she starts working it. Wouldn't want her to get a staph infection from another one of the girls.

That must be when we finally passed through the socialist dictatorship phase and the state has withered away, I imagine. Then FDR is just the first crisis to take advantage of and was the beginning.

Oh, and you guys are not liberals. Liberals support free-markets. The Nanny State is not liberal.

Obviously you're a naive youngster if you think the 1970s were in any way acceptable.

Lol he posted that? I'd say packing the SC to get the decision a president wants is an act of rebellion. The New Deal was a rebellion—it used a crisis to make it one which destroyed the previous order of things ( essentially our freedoms). Don't expect a Marxist to see it other than being saved.

Props to a commentator over at Human Events for inspiration.

Is this thread inspired by the recent swan dive of gold prices, now down 9% over two days and 28% off their alltime high of nearly 1.5 years ago?

Or perhaps it's inspired by the fact that austerity measures in Europe haven't exactly done a great job of fixing the severe economic issues in the countries where they were implemented?

Let's see, all of the Bee Gees and Carpenters were alive, and Barry Manilow was singing his own songs, not 1950s standards. Acceptable? I'd say more like GLOOORIOUUUUSSS.
