A Colorado Sheriff Responds To President Obama

This is ****ing great.

This dude brings thunder. What a noble statesmen this guy is...

Video Description:
President Obama visited Denver on April 3, 2013 to push his excessive gun legislation. Not one sheriff in the state of Colorado was included in the event. The sheriffs of Colorado representing 62 counties were kept out of the event because their legislative needs were not useful to the president.

Obama's purposeful shunning of the state sheriffs could not silence them. Listen as Sheriff Shayne Heap from Elbert County Colorado responds to the president's comments.

Not necessarily.

What you're implying is that you shouldn't be allowed to point out a problem if you don't have the solution. If some politician decided that he could cure cancer by passing a law against it, you don't have to be able to cure cancer in order to say "Ummm, that's not going to work".

Well, Catholics continue to be on the top of B.O.'s enemy list. That's what you get for helping the commie punk back in the day.

Good job Evangelicals, sitting out the election and not voting for the Mormon! You reap what you sow.

My issue wasn't necessarily with the pointing out that the policies will not have the effect they are intended for, I agree with that. I just didn't feel a six minute speech read poorly was the best way to say "Ummm, that's not going to work". If that much time and effort is going to go into your speech, offer up a different solution. If not, just come out and say "this sucks" and be done with it.

Why? Why could it be debated, and what would the point be? I'm not quite sure why you included this non sequitor in your response. It looks as if you're admitting you think the 2nd Amendment (or its interpretation) should be changed in some way.

If you bring in side items like this to the argument, you're basically admitting that you **do** see value in some level of gun control. And if so, you'll have to prove how it will make any impact.

F-ck the GOP. They spent the last 40 years bringing in millions of illegal immigrants so they could please the 5% of their base that is business-only at the expense of the 95% who never wanted it. They can burn in hell. Talk about "reaping what you sow"? Did you really just say that? Because the GOP was just ass-raped by the immigrant swarm they promised their base wouldn't turn on them.

The GOP reaped what it sowed the day it decided to betray it's middle class base and import the hordes. I'm glad the hordes murdered their Election Day chances.

As technology increases, then yes I do believe certain things such as the second amendment could be looked at to see if they need tweaking to keep them relevant. When the amendment was written, the weapons available were less capable than the weapons of today. I'm not on the "ban assault weapons" bandwagon because I don't think the losses of tyranny suppression would outweigh the gains of eliminating weapons capable of so much damage in a short amount of time. But when does the line get drawn. Should RPGs , mortars, and claymore mines be available to the public?

I just think we need to get past the stigma of the phrase "gun control" and have an intelligent discussion about what makes sense going forward without all the emotion and finger pointing that usually accompanies such discussions. If what makes sense is to do nothing and keep the status quo, that fine, but up to this point there hasn't been any discussion not clouded with emotion and partisan politics.

I wonder how many soldiers would die today if two armies stood in lines facing each other with automatic weapons and opened fire.

You're a complete dumbass.

That is why I typed LESS capable. If you don't believe muskets are less capable of inflicting harm than a M-16, then there is nothing I can do for you.

Now is this really the argument you want to make, or do you just want to put on your dunce hat and go home?

I had some time today, and this statement caught my eye. It was an angle I thought was intriguing, and if it was true - or even true enough to imply a correllation - it would be a pretty interesting piece of information to have. So, I decided to fact-check it.

First, my methods: I made a list of every entry in Wikipedia's lists of rampage, workplace, school, and religiously-motivated mass killers. I limited the list to those in the US, from the time of Columbine (April 20, 1999) up until now. I eliminated the one killer who used a vehicle, and the six who used only hand weapons (an interesting statistic in itself). I also eliminated the five who did not have their own Wikipedia page, just for ease of research. I then added in a few more cases either of special notoreity or interest: Kip Kinkel's lunchroom shooting in 1998, in which he killed or wounded 28 students; the Jewish day school shooting of 1999 by a white supremacist; the Beltway snipers of 2002; the attack on the Colorado Springs churches in 2007; the shooting at the San Antonio theater that happened just after the Batman shooting in 2012; and Christopher Dorner. That left me with a list of a nice, even, 40 criminals to compare, who together committed 38 crimes. I then quickly read about them to see which were on prescription medication at the time.

4 to 6 score as Yes: Robert Hawkins (Valium), Seung-Hui Cho (unknown), Jeff Weise (Prozac), Steven Kazmierczak (Ambien, Prozac, and Xanax). Possibly Robert Stewart (Ambien, disputed by prosecution) and Adam Lanza (tests are as yet incomplete).

1 scores as Sorta: Jared Loughner had illegal drugs, and almost certainly had major psychiatric issues, possibly stemming from using a lot of illegal drugs.

6 or 7 are Maybe, because they had been diagnosed with psychiatric issues in the past: Terry Ratzmann (depression), Michael McLendon (depression), Mark Barton (depression and paranoia), Scott Dekraai (PTSD), Buford Furrow (unspecified), and Bryan Uyesugi (personality shift after a head injury). James Holmes's defense team says he was under psychiatric care, but this has so far been disputed by the prosecution.

18 are No: Eric Harris, Dylan Klebold, Charles Williams, John Muhammad, Lee Malvo, Chai Vang, Kyle Huff, Charles Roberts, Tyler Peterson, Charles Thornton, Jiverly Wong, George Sodini, Omar Thornton, Eduardo Sencion, One Goh, Wade Page, Jesus Garcia, and Christopher Dorner. Their motivations ranged from revenge (Vang), extortion (Muhammad and Malvo), rage (Omar Thornton), racial hatred (Page), or simply being a psychopathic killer (Harris).

8 more are also No, but perhaps should have been - they each exhibited evidence of mental illness, but apparently had received no treatment for it: Douglas Williams, Michael McDermott, Matthew Murray, Nidal Hasan, Andrew Engeldinger, Jennifer San Marco, Kip Kinkel, and Larry Ashbrook.

Counting maximum totals, and even with the Sorta as a Yes, the total is 7 Yes, 7 Maybe, and 26 No. My conclusion is that this statement
