You made something up and pretended it was a quote. You're just brilliant. That's why it didn't bother me. Anyone who clicked on it would just see that you're a liar. Not that it wouldn't impress your fellow dipshits.

Well then YOU explained it incorrectly. NO ONE is talking about CURRENTLY printing an entire gun. They are talking about the lower receiver. (which is important since that is the part that is regulated)

And if you don't think engineers can be idiots, you don't know enough engineers. BUT in this case, it sounds like you didn't understand what was going on. The engineer is correct, printing an entire gun is many years away.

What I said. Now, please note the title of thread and video. It says gun. I think you projected here.

While we're at it the lower receiver still falls apart anyway and has had serious setbacks. So that is still in progress.

Quote:
3-D printed gun fires 6 shots — then falls apart

The idea of using a 3-D printer to create a gun is controversial and interesting, but the process seems to still be a ways off from equaling the quality of machined parts. A gun with a major part printed that way failed after just six shots when some enthusiasts decided to give the tech a try....

The part printed by the group (called the lower receiver, where a round is received from the magazine) looks to be very well made, and it appears to fit exactly to the other parts in the gun kit they used.

But the pressure of the recoil appears to have been too much for the "buffer ring," which separates the stock from the upper receiver. After firing just six shots, the gun split in two. It's a serious setback, especially considering they were firing a lower-caliber cartridge than the gun would normally shoot.

We have similar technology in my field, whereby crowns are made with ceramic materials. It won't be very long before the technology jumps over to guns. Hell, it's already there, it just needs a milling devise instead of a "printer" to mill the lower units.
