Obamacare in English?

Explain it to me like I'm four years old.

I'm sitting here making decisions on health care coverage knowing that it's all changing in 10 months. What exactly do I have to look forward to? I know that younger people will be paying more. Is 37 (which is how old I will be at that time) considered young?

HELP!

Yes and there was a graph posted months ago about how there's been an even sharper spike after Obamacare. Keep believing in that free lunch though.

There's lots of stuff posted that is complete BS. Most of the assertions in your posts, for example. The rate of increase is the lowest in many years.

The truth is the estimated cost of Obamacare by the CBO has just about doubled in three years to $1.6 trillion dollars over the next ten years.

Imagine how much uglier it can and probably will get.

and so on.
It would have been nice if healthcare reform had actually been about cost containment instead of centralizing power and advancing the interests of the democrat party.

Between 3-5 million people could lose their company-sponsored health care plans. Many businesses will find it more cost-effective to pay the penalty and let their employees purchase their own insurance plans on the exchanges. Other small businesses might find they can get a better plan through the state-run exchanges. (Source: CBO, The Effects of the Affordable Care Act on Employment-Based Health Insurance, March 15, 2012)

This most likely will happen in my case. In fact it is a no brainer. Why would my company continue to pay for health insurance at a cost of 5-10K? They will just pay the penalty.

I have no confidence in the Government nor their plans. We govern from one crisis to the next. If it isnt the fiscal cliff its sequestration, a failing post office or just simple fraud.
I like the saying that Government should keep their hands off my body.

why do they pay for your healthcare now? They don't HAVE to offer that. The incentive to offer healthcare doesn't change at all.

Could you explain to me in a rational, logical manner how adding a couple million uninsured to the tab isn't going to raise cost? I'm all ears. If you think it's morally correct or a a duty as a human being ****ing just say it instead of blowing smoke up everyone's ass and making yourself look stupid in the process. ****ing disingenuous lying ****s who hide behind 'all for one and one for all'.

The "theory" is that the uninsured sickies are already being paid for through hospital emergency room care. AND that by forcing millions of healthy people to pay into the pool, overall costs will go down. Of course that doesn't take into account the millions of people who simply won't pay because they will get around this cluster****. Expect to see an explosion in 1099 workers and business self-insuring.

The premium would go higher, a lot higher such that the company no longer affords to offer the coverage at a reasonable rate. Then again, this just could be speculation. When the Obamacare kicks in next year, the cost could come down. Everyone will be covered and we all live in a blissful worry-free life.

btw... all of my HONEST liberal friends that support Obamacare admit that it is meant to be a stepping stone to full socialized medicine... they are perfectly fine with it failing so long as they get that end result.

I don't think the theory is really that overall costs will go down, I think the theory is that the influx of new cash from healthy people will slow the rate of growth of insurance premiums (temporarily). Meanwhile, the fundamental problem of rising healthcare costs goes on unabated.

Yup! But you can't use people you know here, remember? It's a thought crime.

I've seen it this stated on left-wing web-sites too. Don't forget the Cloward-Piven strategy of these Fabians.
