If he's named after Francis of Assisi this guy will drive the war party nuts! The names these popes pick means something. Francis of Assisi was known for being against war....even traveled to Muslim lands, not to kill them but to convert them. Oh wait, he's 76 years old. The NCs don't have a long wait. Then they may get someone more like Pope Innocent III.

I think this is awesome. From what I'm seeing this guy is awesome. Love it. My past has caused me to "lose my religion" in the social way, but I've never lost my love for the Catholic church. I grew up Catholic, my father did 2 tours in the embassy in Rome, and my Scout leaders were primarily priests, or gunna-be priests, from the North American College (the "Priest" college just up the hill from the Vatican), so I feel a strong connection to it all still. We (the scout troop), helped with services in the Vatican since the NAC provides the English-speaking, or did (!!!), translation to the Vatican. So I'm just giddy because this guy seems AWESOME and has an opportunity to fix many of the things I saw wrong with the RC church. I doubt I'll ever soil their doorstep again, but I sure am cheering for them from the distance the shadows afford me..

Great day for all RCs...

Yeah for the new Pope! Instead of ignoring Church law under Benedict, we can now ignore it under Francis!

They name themselves to honor past Church All-Stars and such, correct? Yet after all this time, no Pope Jesus? Jesus, what's a guy gotta do around here?

I was wondering which one you claim they aren't following. Just giving you your chance to cast stones, I just want you to Sharpie their sin on each before you cast it. You know, the whole full disclosure thing...
