Evangelical church accused of ignoring sexual abuse, “pedophilia ring”

Sovereign Grace and Sovereign Grace Ministries (SGM) and Covenant Life Church (CLC) served with a lawsuit alleging clergy cover-ups of sexual abuse including molestation of children.

Well, this one was of the reasons I decide to put this thread up. Because I have posted before that the percentage of such incidents and the cover-ups, in the RCC is not all that different from other denominations.

What an astounding coincidence!

Child abuse and sexual abuse are human problems. The fault I find with organizations of any kind is providing an environment that facilitates those problems. Assigning leadership roles to people who aren't qualified to lead is just one way that organizations do this. Establishing a culture of unquestioned authority is another. Promoting an ethical standard that is not rooted in any rational process would be a third.

Hmmm, just gave me self an idea for a social commentary cartoon, animation short or comedy skit.

Something along the lines of the sinners in hell ganging up on priests, ministers for failing to keep the sinners out of there.
I'll have to consult my CW major kid, for dialogue and writing while I do the visuals.

I guess this can ultimately be the problem with people in any position of power/influence - they just feel like they're above it all.

Hopefully some criminal charges will follow, although no amount of jail time is long enough for such a heinous crime.

I think he's being sarcastic. Particularly, since he had one glaring omission—school teachers. Yes, the ones even in our govt schools. That's a place with access to many children—not the areas he named which is mainly adults. I read with school teachers that it's a higher percent. I've read even as high as ten percent. They have a much more access to many more children though too.

Also, there was some sort of sex scandal at some national science place a few years ago too. But it was between adults. IIRC it tainted some study they did.
I'd have to go look for it.

Not to mention affairs with partners outside of marriage by govt officials, such as congress and...Bill Clinton. ( Who said Hillary had more affairs then him.)

So who are these sexual offenders?
  • Males and Females

One child pornography sting operation by the U.S. Justice Department and Customs Postal Inspectors resulted in well over two hundred arrests. The occupations of those arrested was a virtual rainbow of American life, representing 44% of all occupations listed by the U.S. Department of Labor.

The Education Department's report comes on the heels of a separate report that reveals a 35 percent increase in complaints of sexual misconduct involving school employees in the first three months of 2012 over 2011.

Yes some of what those 16 doesn't rise to what some other complaints have been. I am using the artilce for the 35% rise reported.

Is there a date for that sting? Cause I read about one back around 2000 and it was other denominations, counselors, teachers or professional positions where there is a high degree of trust and access to children.

I also thought this was interesting in the same link:
Which age group is most often targeted by child molesters?
In the interviews I conducted, the majority of molesters cited a preference for children on the brink of puberty. This is the age of sexual awakening, making it easy for molesters to prey on the sexual curiosity and ignorance of youngsters. To quote one of the sexual offenders I interviewed, "Give me a kid who knows nothing about sex, and you've given me my next victim."
