Your guns in exchange for surgery

Member of Montana's House says...

Sounds like a back door registry. What a snake this dude is.

Quote:
On January 16, 2013, President Obama released 23 “Gun Violence Reduction Executive Actions” of which Action #2, #14, #16, #17, #21, and #22 utilize the national healthcare system to collect gun ownership information. As Obamacare grows over the next decade, unwary citizens will voluntarily divulge firearm ownership information including serial numbers in exchange for routine healthcare. Through the power of incrementalism, placing this information in a federal database seems harmless at first.

However, someday in the future, imagine a loved one in your care needing critical medical attention, so you rush into an Obamacare facility because no other option exists. Healthcare enforcers examine your medical records and announce the Public Safety Authority has handed down Rule 1040 declaring all semiautomatic rifles, including .22s, are applicable only for military purposes. You must surrender your previously identified Ruger, 10/22 prior to your loved one receiving treatment. With no other choice you do. Scoffers might dismiss my warnings as fear mongering; something which would never happen. If you believe me and I am wrong, America has lost nothing. If you ignore me and I am right, America has lost everything. How much are you willing to risk? Shouldn’t we stop this now?

I can't imagine talking to my doctor about my firearm ownership. I don't see why or how the subject would come up other than perhaps being treated for a self inflicted gunshot wound. I could imagine talking to a therapist (or some other mental health worker) about it but why would I give serial numbers?

I asked this question when he signed those executive orders and no one had an answer.

I honestly don't see all the proposed gun legislation as precursors to a more authoritarian government. I see it as pandering, attention whoring and an attempt to pass more bullshit "sin taxes" to increase the government's revenue stream.

I bet they'll try to enforce at some point that you can't be on gov assistance and own a firearm. And while it may be pandering, it is also the last step to tyranny of the few over the many.

I don't know. My FaceBook profile gets hit about once a week with the "Lets Drug Test Everyone On Welfare" picture that someone just can't help sharing. If that can't get done I have doubts about a disarmament law passing and then standing up in court.

If you can't talk guns and hunting with your doctor, you need to find a new doctor.

It's not that I couldn't, it just doesn't come up. I don't go to the doctor's office much and I've never shot myself.

You should bring it up. Good doctors always know the best hunting and fishing spots.

I live in a dinky little town in Northern California. We probably don't even have any local doctors. I'd go hunting or shooting with my work buddies first though. You should see what this one guy brings in. He runs a guns and ammo store on the side, goes hunting/fishing/camping all the time. He cleans out his freezer once a year and does a cookout for our department at work. Amazing duck.
