Xbone vs PS4?

Need quick advice. After i take off from work here today im going to to pick up a new gaming system for my 10 y/o son's B-day.

I'm mostly a PC gamer and haven't really paid much attention to the new consoles. For the longest time i've only let him play kids games such as Mine Craft and Little Big Planet on our PS3. Recently i've allowed him to get into the CoD series and he's just been obsessed now.

If i use it, i'll mostly be using it for Madden and Racing.

So, what do i need to know?

what kinda games do you let him play/interested in? Are there particular games solely for the console that interest you? Ive heard the PS4 Pro is going to be more powerful than The xbox one s. How much that matters? idk. I'd rec. a tech geek on a gaming website... if no one answers here.

I'm gonna get myself a one due to already owning a 360

I got a PS4. If your use to the controls from Ps3 then stick with PS4 because Xb1 controls suck if your not use to them.

The exclusives on the PS4 are the reason I play it. They have dominated the market during the current generation of consoles.

If you like racing games the best racing game out is Forza Horizon 3 for Xb1. The Forza series beats Gran Turismo imo.

My sons have both. Xbox sits untouched. As was mentioned the PS Network is a big reason why.

X-Box directional pad is jank. If you could get an xbox for a good price on craigslist I would jump at that. If he plays sports games you can't fit many games on ps4. you can connect a external HD to an xbox.

Racing games? Get an Xbone.

They've got it right with the Forza series. Not a big forza fan myself, but I'd say that experience has to be better for most over GT: Game Delay.

The reality is, they are both outstanding consoles. You can't go wrong with either. I chose an Xbox for my son a year ago because that's what most of his friends had

Trust me, it was definitely a point of contention, and we've had these games for years but refused to let him play them up until about a month or so ago. But we determined our son was mature enough to handle it.

Went with the PS4.

He was every bit as excited as i had hoped. Sadly we spent most of the evening setting the damn thing up. I created a fake email address to make him a quick profile so he could get in and play right away.

Then i come to find that unlike the PS3, Sony now requires you to actually log into said email address and confirm the account. So then i had to go and create this new fake email address. Turns out my fake email address had already been taken.

So then i had delete the account and do it alllll over....

Finally get the account made, but since it's a child account i had to log into my master account and jump through more hoops.

FINALLY get into the interface...and then had to wait an hour+ for the game patch to download....

Really made me miss the ol' cartridge days.....
