We are a mixed bag of nut cases who spend hours arguing on this website. I have been called the following here: Neocon, rightwing nut, libtard, moonbat and someone who must be either high or drunk. I would like to say some of this is unfair. I have discovered that just about everyone here thinks they are in the middle so this election will not have party affiliation...because everyone is from the middle. I think it is necessary to elect a leader. His or her only powers will be the right to start every post with "As your president" and state proudly in his or her signature that in a place commonly referred to as a cesspool he or she rose to the top.

Disclaimer: if Flop or Austin should win they will have these powers along with the power to ban your ass, although they will maintain those powers win or lose. Whoever wins I will address as Mr.or Mrs. President out of respect, although the rest of the post may be disrespectful. There will be two votes, the first to establish two candidate and the second to crown the winner. So let the voting begin when the poll shows up~

It clearly hits a nerve with you and another poster. If you guys are so above it than why even bother to respond at all? I see this as nothing more than a silly way to pass time. I suspect the fact you have an issue with this and your general posting style that you are over compensating for something~

I bother to respond because I feel that the political landscape today could use more independent thought, and less blindly accepted partisan alignment of ideas according to pre-established parties. You're simply promoting the bolstering of sides so Group A can better attack Group B by putting "Leaders" in place. Our country has went downhill because the political system has fostered an environment in which people are content to fight with the "Other side", instead of intelligently working together toward common goals. I see this as an extension of that mindset, and I don't think it serves a positive purpose.

Do you really think that's what he's doing? I agree with you that this kind of thing ends up being a silly popularity contest and really serves no purpose beyond that, but surely you don't really think this puts "leaders in place" to better serve the cause of group A vs group B. This thread will have zero impact on the partisan nature of politics here.

First off I have not a clue how a spoof election set up for fun is causing any harm. For whatever it matters it appears pre- established parties means very little here. The leading vote getters strike me as independent~
