Cheapest way to get to Amsterdam
My cousin and I are really wanting to go sometime, but I was looking up the flight prices and damn! 2500 bucks and I'm not 100% sure but I think that was just one way from KC to Amsterdam. Has anyone here been recently? Anyone know of a better way? My cousin suggested flying over the ocean for as cheap as possible and taking trains or something.

We're going in April. Wed overnight returning Monday. From JFK it's about $1,000 direct. You can do about $700-800 if you don't mind crazy layovers.

I've never been out of the US, besides one time when I went to Niagara Falls Canada...which really doesn't count at all. So I just wanna travel overseas. How much Dutch should I learn? Most people there speak English right?

Minimal Dutch.

I went to Spain several years ago very cheap.

What we did was buy airfare to Majorca Spain. It was off season and I'm thinking it was a couple of hundred bucks. That flight had a plane switch in Madrid.....and I missed my 2nd flight....and caught the 2nd flight on the way home.

Saved a lot of money over just flying to where I wanted to go.

Maybe you can figure something like that out...go to a less desirable destination and figure out a way to get where you want to go cheap like a train.

Another thought for you on the cheapest way to get to Amsterdam: you could join the army, volunteer for Afghanistan, and then desert and hitchhike your way across Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, parts of Russia and the Ukraine, and then eastern Europe.
