Brian Elliott has the world's largest 5-hole right now and has a sterling .830 Save Percentage in the 5 starts he's had since Halak went down. We're absolutely dying with this piece of trash in net.

The Blues start every game in a 2-0 hole before the horn even goes off and that will be the case until they can get Halak back in there. It's clearly a mental thing with elliott - he just cannot do the job when he's the lead dog.

Nah. When Brian Elliott is a backup, he's actually good. Cassel sucks even as a backup; he just had Randy Moss around to disguise the suck.

Except Elliott's legit as a backup or when he splits time with someone.

Last season was a fluke, perhaps, but he shouldn't be doing this badly. Halak sooner rather than later should claim the #1 role while moving Elliott to a backup role. Halak's at least shown that he can stand on his head when it counts(with Montreal) while Elliott has shown repeatedly within the last 2 seasons that he is shit without anyone pushing him for a few games.

If they want that kind of compensation, he won't be playing for them or anyone else any time soon. Surprising the player hasn't caved already to be honest, I'm curious to see how long it'll last.

Wow.

There is some questionable analysis there... Anderson didn't have a great year before he left, as he couldn't even hold off Peter Budaj for the starting spot. He did have a solid year before that, I guess. Kind of hard to judge him or Elliot though, since the defense was so bad.

However, that obviously doesn't take away from the O'Reilly crap or the other low-ball offers. It's one thing to mortgage the future with trade deadline deals, like they did 10-15 years ago, but it's like they're still operating with that same kind of mentality. And I think Duchene and Landeskog are both RFAs at the end of this season...
