ChiefsPlanet New rule: 10k maximum posts in threads - Page 3

As you may have heard about at some point, vBulletin has trouble with very large threads. From my naiive understanding, it essentially has to count every post in a thread when displaying it, so large thread put a huge load on it, especially when they're popular.

Because of that, I'm going to start experimenting with proactively closing or splitting threads that get to be too large. I'll always link back to the original thread in the OP.

If you happen to want to save me some time, it'd help if people intentionally choose to abandon those threads and start a new one once in a while like kstater has done with the K-State threads from time to time. Any mod can lock the old one with just a PM.

That is all. Now back to your regularly-scheduled programming.
