NHL lockout: Owners, players reach tentative agreement on CBA framework

After more than 16 consecutive hours of bargaining on the 113th day of the lockout, the NHL and NHLPA reached a tentative agreement on the framework of a new collective bargaining agreement around 5 a.m. Sunday.

“We have reached an agreement on the framework of a new collective bargaining agreement, the details of which need to be put to paper,” NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said during a news conference, standing next to NHLPA Executive Director Donald Fehr.

“We’ve got to dot a lot of I’s and cross a lot of T’s,” Bettman said. “There’s still a lot of work to be done, but the basic framework of the deal has been agreed upon.”

The deal still requires ratification from the players and the NHL’s Board of Governors before it becomes official, but the league is expected to play a 50- or 48-game season that starts no later than Jan. 19.

I've got mixed emotions right now. I am still so pissed over this almost happening for a second time. Now half the season is gone. I love enjoying the slow build of the season. Oh well, hockey is back. A month into the season I'm sure it will feel like it normally does.

I usually get into a $100 league on CBSSports. Have no clue what the outlook is on fantasy teams now with the lockout over. Don't want to put in $100 only to find out that 1 or 2 leagues are going

I enjoy watching it. Doesn't really matter to me how many other people are watching it with me.

Been waiting for this for a long time. Wild fan here. Minnesota finally lands some big name guys and they have a stupid lockout. So pumped to see the pros back in the state of hockey!

Nice! I always forget you're out in this neck of the woods. I've been to 3-4 Cutthroats games this year and, though they don't exactly sell the place out, it's a lot of fun for just over the cost of a movie. It's gonna be hard for me to shell out 5-6 times that amount of coin for the Avs when my TV at home is perfectly comfortable.

A month into the season I'm sure it will feel like it normally does. __________________ 6 of 12 QB's in the playoffs are 1st or 2nd year players. Oh how scary it is to go young at the QB position.
