Unemployment Rises for Women, African-Americans in December

I used to think this was bad news, and that blacks would wake up and see how destructive the democrat party has been for them, but no, based on the results of the re-election of Barry, I have come to the realization that blacks like government handouts. They like being on welfare. They like getting free stuff.

It really is sad.

(CNSNews.com) – Government unemployment numbers for December showed that while the general unemployment rate remained flat at 7.8 percent, unemployment for women and African-Americans rose despite an economy that created 155,000 jobs.

Unemployment for women rose to 7.3 percent in December from 7.0 percent while the rate for African-Americans rose sharply to 14.0 percent from 13.2 percent in November.

Unemployment among African Americans has remained quite high throughout the sluggish economic recovery of the past several years, despite the steady decline in overall unemployment in the economy generally.

The number of employed African Americans actually fell in December – a month that typically sees a spike in job creation as employers add temporary positions to handle the holiday shopping season.

The number of employed African Americans fell from nearly 16 million to 15.8 million in December.

By contrast, the unemployment rate for Whites remained nearly a full point below the national average at 6.9 percent in December.

Do you feel like this is an inherent flaw in the race, or perhaps is there a social/economic confounding variable that makes it more difficult for blacks to find work?

Saying the first thing is flat out racist.

Saying the second is practicing sociology, perhaps pointing out a problem that we need to find solutions for.

Numerically there are more poor whites in America than blacks. But statistically there are more poor minorities. Because there are so many whites, the more fortunate whites outnumber the unfortunate ones.

Minority numbers are hard to come by because their population is limited. When you have 100 people and 10 are on welfare, 10% of those people are on welfare but when you have 50 people and 10 are on welfare, then 20% are on welfare.

There have been studies comparing immigrant vs. native-born unemployment and wage data. Bob Dole hasn't looked at any of them since the early 1990's, however.

Just pointing out that there is data out there if you really want an answer to your question.
