The Mediaís Gun Control feeding frenzy

Anyone who thinks the media is skewed to the right needs to have their head examined. I have Bloomberg on all day here at work and it was all about gun legislation all day yesterday. I am watching KTVU this morning and the docket went something like this:
Controlling Gun Violence
Revisiting the massacre
(shooter name) Going over his background and how he destroyed his computer by hammer or screwdriver so nobody could see what he was doing.
Traffic Report
Gun Sales skyrocketing in Oregon, Washington and California
Standoff lasted 5 hours last night
Libertarians think Teachers should go through training and pack heat in school.
Weather
Gun sales in Texas WTF?
Proposing gun control

Really?

Is it this bad where you are at?

Ruger stock looks like a major buy opportunity. Media will feed on this till the new ban comes to pass. Pure political bullshit.

It's to be expected. But, after the shock wears off I don't see any major changes.

We do restrict free speech. The constitution is as clear on free speech as it is with the right to bear arms. I see the gun control advocates point. But points are not overruled by the constitution.

I'd be okay with
  • Banning the mentally ill from owning guns.
  • Those convicted of violence against other citizens from owning guns.
  • Banning the 50 round clips
But beyond that, I'll be on the same side as the gun owners on this issue. The majority or the minority don't get to overreact to a tragedy and infringe on constitutional guaranteed rights.

Sounds reasonable. A 50 round MAGAZINE seems a bit excessive. And cumbersome. Plus, I hear they're prone to jamming.

With the weapon I mentioned earlier I have a 35 round and 10 round clip. You are right on the occasional jam. However I just do not see how making new laws that only those of us who follow laws helps anything. There are unlimited supplies of anything they would ban. The black market will continue the flow. Passing any new laws accomplishes nothing at all other than one more step towards the ultimate goal of those who wish to ban guns all together~

To old timers a magazine isn't removable. A clip is.

A Garand has a clip. A Remington 870 has a magazine. Get over it.

No. Not offended. Just think terminology is an indication of what you know about your weapons. Clips were what Soldiers used in WW2. They fed from the top of the rifle. A magazine is something entirely different.

I assume that those who understand ammunition and guns would know the difference. There is no such thing as a 30 round clip. Saying clip makes you sound like an idiot newsperson.

This is my weapon, this is my gun.......

Carry on

A clip is a very common term for a magazine. Sorry to get your purist panties in a bunch. I have been around guns my whole life and do not need any lessons from you~

That is one of the weakest grandstands I have seen. Here is a Wikipedia link because I AM GUN EXPERT!!! You people who use very common slang terms know nothing about guns

A larger shop the I go to down here has no .223, 9mm or .40 say even law enforcement ammo on back order. Says it's been like this since 11/6. I ordered two 30 round CLIPS for my mini today.
