So, when Romney wins, how long do we wait before blaming him for the economy?

Since so many here already have their minds made up about not only who they are going to vote for, but are certain beyond any doubt who will win, it is time to move on.

Romney is an economic "genius" whose entire campaign is based on the idea that Obama didn't get the economic recovery going fast enough.

So how long should we wait until Romney deserves the same blame for not getting the economy going?

I did some searching to see how long various CP members gave Obama prior to blame:

6 months - petegz29
Biden doing damage control on economic situation

58 Days - HonestCheiffan- Obama It's not my fault, Blame Bush

51 days - patteeu (Velvet Jones and BucEyedPea agreeing)- Obama lied the economy died

39 days - memyselfI (and HCF and others agreeing) - 6000 here we come Yikes Doombama is tanking Wall Street

(-69) days - Bootlegged Obama elected market down 520 points

and (-101) days Bootlegged

So, what are the guidelines on how quickly to credit/blame Romney?

I'd say you can blame him whenever you want. That won't prevent him from facilitating substantial improvement by the time his re-election comes around.

BTW, the quote you're attributing to me was really from the late Tony Blankley. And there's nothing in that thread about me blaming Obama for the economy. It's an "I told you so" thread pointing out that Obama was spending money at an unprecedented rate contrary to his previous commitments to cut spending and shrink the deficit and in fulfillment of my pre-election predictions.

Mitt Romney has many such promises, including the magical reduction of the deficit while increasing defense spending and cutting tax rates massively. He offers few details though, so I assume he will want wiggle room on those when they fail.

He's also made many statements like "In Year one I will do x" or "On day 1 I will do y"
It wasn't just some government bureaucrat's output. It was the output from two of his top economic advisers including the chairwoman of his council of economic advisers. And he didn't campaign on it because it was released about a week before he took office (after his staff had access to the inside scoop on the economy).

Mitt Romney hasn't gotten to the point where he or his team are making predictions based on inside info. We should hold him accountable for any such claims if and when they are made.

If you're asking me, I believed Obama was a disaster before he was elected and I blamed him for every disastrous misstep he made from day one.

Okay, but who do you blamed the economy on? Was Bush a disaster?

If he repeals this god forsaken health care bill, you can blame him for the results immediately.

Um. nice try there, banyon. My post you so graciously chose to list 1st was bashing Biden for being a dumbass. I did not place blame on him for anything other than being a dumbass.

I stand corrected. Christina Romer predicted the unemployment rate would be below 8% by the end of 2009.
