Why people laugh at Creationists

Taking a lead from Killer Clown I thought I'd create a alternative thread to post some videos I like...

[EDIT New video here]

So on with the show:

Here's the Kent Hovind Theory:

"Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it.
Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many.
Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books.
Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders.
Do not believe in traditions simply because they have been handed down for many generations.
But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it."

Well now . . .

Virginia was named after Queen Elizabeth I ("The Virgin Queen"), not the Virgin Mary. Maryland was named after Henrietta Maria, who was married to Charles I, not Mary Jesus's mother.

And there were 12 tribes of Israel. And the size of the 13 colonies is not even close to the land size of Israel. The people who settled the colonies were not attempting to recreate Israel.

OK. But what does that have to do with Creationism? I have no idea how you're trying to tie all that in to the discussion here. Yes, our past culture used symbology from other past cultures. It's a common practice. But again, what are you inferring with that info from hundreds of years ago? Our society has since improved understanding of a great deal of things. Yes they had debate about it at the time. But it was decided by the majority of those same men at the time to separate church and state.

I'm still not sure what you're trying to show?

It would be appreciated if stevieray made his points more clearly. Perhaps he can explicitly tell us what his purpose is. Stevieray?

Provide me with clear evidence for the big bang or how we evolved from rocks..i'm waiting.

Evolution doesn't posit that humans evolved from rocks. Are you sure you know enough about evolution's central arguments to validly refute it?

I don't understand your first comment, but addressing your second part of this post, could you acknowledge that you recognize evolution theories don't really address ultimate life origins?

They certainly try to, and you can blame my Catholic upbringing as I wasn't properly taught Evolution. I've seen many arguments put forth by those believing in Evolution and they have some crazy theories with the Big bang being the most popular.

You know full well evidence has already been provided in discussions about this. But for the sake of completion, I would offer up our current knowledge of cosmic microwave background radiation as the most conclusive evidence for my fascination of the big bang.

And as far as evolving from rocks... That's just silly and makes me think you have no grasp of biology in the slightest. I really hope that's not what you think "Evolution" is about.

Evolution doesn't actually explain either the Big Bang, or the origin of life. It doesn't even try. Evolution explains the changes to species over time. What you are confusing is called "Abiogenesis". Please use that term instead of the ridiculous statement claiming evolution means we evolved from rocks. Abiogenesis is the study of how metabolism came to be. How organic life came to exist along side inorganic material. It's a very interesting idea on its own, but has no place in discussion about evolution.

But please, for future reference, learn the difference between "Organic" and "Inorganic" compounds...

What is a kind? I'm not aware of any biological category by that name.

There are many atheists who think the big bang is bunk, and I think you are moving the goalposts by stating Evolution simply explains the changes to each specific species over time.
