Schefter: Chiefs are high on Ricky Stanzi

He said it on the new ESPN Insiders show with Mort, Clayton, and Schefter. Said that Stanzi has caught the eye of the Chiefs and that he could be ahead of Brady Quinn on the depth chart.

BossChief has a better summary....

Ricky Stanzi hasn't made any mistakes as far as interceptions. He's calm and has caught the eye of the people in the Chiefs organization.

Look, it's Matt Cassels job. Everybody knows that right now. MUCH TO THE UNHAPPYNESS OF MANY FANS IN THE AREA. Ricky Stanzi is a quarterback to watch there in Kansas City in the near future...despite the fact that they brought in Brady Quinn this offseason to backup Matt Cassel."

Game 6, bitches.

You can't force him to sign.
How many players do you know that have turned down lucrative contracts in a sport where injury risks are high and little is guaranteed?

To be fair, lucrative is relative when Carr knows if he waits a month he is gonna get mega money, and he did. Players turn down great contracts for better ones all the time. I am not saying its Carr's fault, but I would like to see the actual offers before I kill ***** for it. What ***** should get blamed for is not resigning him the year before when Carr was willing.

So slightly overpay him? I'm fine with that TBH, just checking.

If it were the case that we offered Carr the exact same contract the Boys did, he just decided to go there, what then?

This is what I was saying. This is what was mismanaged. You don't allow top players to enter their FA year unnecessarily b/c then there's the obvious desire to test the market.

See last post. Top players shouldn't get to the point of testing the market. Thus, all of the above is moot. There is no offer from Dallas, etc. But that would take foresight and money from the Clarks.

Carr flat out said that he was getting called by a lot of teams when he was in Dallas and that he only wanted to be a Cowboy from the get go and turned every other team down for a visit....even though they were calling with offers that drove the price up for him.

He grew up a Cowboys fan and wanted to be a Cowboy.

Simple as that.

***** didn't mismanage him, unless he had something to do with what team Carr watched and followed as a kid.

I'm of the opinion of, if you have to overpay your home grown legit talent to keep it in house, you do it.

Am I typing in some void in the intrawebz? Once Carr was allowed to test the waters, he might well have been gone.

That's why top players aren't allowed to get to FA.

This mismanagement happened the year before when Carr was looking for like 5 yrs 20 million instead of 50 and he said openly he wanted a deal with the Chiefs. Thats mismanagement. Now yeah at that time Carr was struggling a bit but thats *****'s job, to see what talent is there and when to sign it. You are looking at it from this year, but Carr said in 2010 he was willing to sign a 5 year deal and we didn't do it.

They have been negotiating with Bowe for almost 2 years.

Remember when that article came out that Bowe and Haley had a blow up a couple weeks before Haley got fired?

***** said something like "why are you messing with the guy I'm trying to negotiate with?"

Never overpay for cornerbacks. I know that's not what they were thinking most likely... but people get way too sideways about CB's, which is probably the least important position on either side of the field to overpay for. Same stuff happened when we signed Law and Surtain... yet people still get excited about the position. I'm probably the least broken up person on here about Carr though. Sorry to see him go but that's the business.

I don't listen to NW, so I guess it's possible.

He put those numbers out there?
