Gun Control

We have all heard about what happened in Aurora, Co, and I think that Gun Control is going to be a huge topic in the following months.

What measures need to be taken? Do you have any ideas that will help prevent this kind of thing from happening again as it pertains to guns?

I shoot my SKS all the time for both sport and hunting, it fires the same 7.62X39 round the AK does.
Last night’s shooter used an AR-15 which shoots a .223 round (5.56mm NATO specifically). I’d love to have one of those for plinking and varmint hunting.

Well that's what it's called. So.

But it's great you had that education. I'm willing to bet there is a soul out there or two that has not had that education.

Yeah, that refers to a single mechanism inside a weapon.

You make it sound like a 5 round semiautomatic youth model 20 ga shotgun with birdshot is a .50 cal machine gun on the top of a tank.

Like most gun control nuts, you're uninformed at best.

Fair enough, here's the full quote; "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

Definition of a militia;

mi·li·tia [mi-lish-uh]

noun
1. a body of citizens enrolled for military service, and called out periodically for drill but serving full time only in emergencies.

2. a body of citizen soldiers as distinguished from professional soldiers.

3. all able-bodied males considered by law eligible for military service.

4. a body of citizens organized in a paramilitary group and typically regarding themselves as defenders of individual rights against the presumed interference of the federal government.

So again I ask, why can we regulate one explicitly list right (as the text of the amendement calls for) but cannot regulate the inferred right?

You didn't "bring up" a standard type of weapon, you attempted to demonize it and use it as a dirty word.

Ironically, direckshun is found hopping up and down in support of the armed "freedom fighters" around the globe, using semiautomatics to stand up to their totalitarian governments.

That definition doesn't even begin to make the 2nd amendment clear.

The 2nd amendment has always been regarded as foggy. The Supreme Court interpretations of it, have been very clear, and it's that anybody can own a gun subject to regulations.

So basically, making it easy for criminals to get weapons doesn't bother you? Got it. That is kind of like saying people are going to drive illegally anyways so why should we make them obtain a license. I mean what harm would there be in preventing convicted felons from purchasing guns legally?
