He lays it all out as to why by demographic groups too.

His problem is that the people were a lot less partisan and polarized in 1980 than today. Back then, elections were a lot more fluid and unpredictable because you had a lot more people who were either truly independent, or token members of a party they are not loyal to.

Today with the internet, talk radio, etc the average person is a hell of a lot more informed (or at least thinks they are informed), and have picked a side.

Gettable voters are a tiny fraction.

I'm probably not going to vote for either guy, so I don't have a horse in this race.

That said, you are insane. There is no way in hell Obama loses in a landslide.

I don't give a rats ass "how big the loss is," it could be 1 vote for all I care. As long as train wreck Obama loses the race, packs his bags and gets the **** out, who cares? With that being said, I think it's going to be a close race, unless one of the two, gets caught with a goat or something and the pictures make it to print.

I guess this is our de facto election prediction thread, so I'll chime in by saying I predict Obama wins, 280-258 or thereabouts. It will be close.

I do think the popular vote will be closer than it looks on that map, maybe Obama wins by only 4%, but the electoral college math doesn't look good for Romney.

I think its actually possible this year for Obama to win the electoral college and lose the popular vote. Thats what I'm rooting for anyway, because it could prod some red states into signing onto the national popular vote interstate compact.

Fred Thompson was on Fox predicting Obama losing the popular vote but winning the electoral.

I find it hard to believe he could win Florida myself. The southern part around Miami is liberal. He may win there. But the central is moderate and the northern part is conservative. I have a hard time believing he'd win the central part of Florida. He definitely won't win the northern part of this state.

Because we have that in the the people's House. The president is supposed to represent the nation as a whole so this way the less populated states count. The Senate once represented the states. This is the design of our federalism. The Framers were not big advocates of democracy.
