Do you have a good reason to bump that thread?
Lately, we've had a few users who think bumping threads from years ago is fun for them. It's nothing new necessarily but the mod team has had more and more complaints on the matter. At least 2 people have been banned over it. So we wanted to make an announcement. If you are browsing the archives and decide to bump an old thread to the front page you should have a very compelling reason and state it in your bump post. Otherwise, you may risk a vacation. This rule applies in the lounge area at this time only. It doesn't seem to be a problem in subforums.

how can we post or know it is safe to bump old threads? who is the judge of whether the bump was worthy of taking place? what if I strongly believe that I had good reason to bump the thread and some random mod decides I was just trolling? is there an appeal process? will we be allowed to have a mediator or be judged by a jury of our posting peers?

You're right. Basically that means don't randomly bump threads for kicks. The vast majority won't have any problem with this ever. But there have been 2 or 3 guys who think it's funny to bump threads by typing "bump", "Cassel Sucks", "Peyton Manning", and so on. One idiot in particular likes to do 7 or 8 at a time.
