--What is the absolute BEST pizza you recall eating?
The other thread was too damned depressing to read.

For me, I've had myriad slices from The Scheme in Salina, Kansas. There is some good pizza out there, in Chicago, New York, Seattle, San Fran and the like, but for me, The Scheme is the best pizza in America.

What about you?

Well, in my defense, I didn't live there (commuted from Salem) so the only restaurants I frequented were the ones right next to the engineering school (particularly Togo's - loved their bread bowls).

It's funny, this always pops up in favorite pizza discussions, but this is the one major Chicago area chain that I don't like. At all. My wife and I ordered their deep dish once, it was like somebody filled a crust with stewed tomatoes and baked it. It totally sucked. Their thin crust is better, but considering the other options available, I don't bother with it.
