Time for another tournament: favorite movie scenes.

Edit: The Tournament Is Now Underway and no more nominations will be accepted after Post 498. Look for the SceneItAll Tournament Threads.

I saw two movies today that featured iconic scenes: Big, with the piano dancing scene, and Risky Business, with the underwear dance.

It got me wondering about my favorite movie scenes, and I thought it would be a good tournament topic. So this is the nomination thread. Tell me your favorite movie scenes.

The rules:

1. A scene is generally defined as a segment in a particular place and time, continuous in presentation.

2. A scene should be no more than about three minutes in length.

3. I debated on what adjective to use. Most memorable scene? Best scene? I ended up landing on "favorite scene", because that lets you select based on your own feelings.

4. Probably no porn scenes since they would automatically win.

5. We're talking scenes, not lines. So your nomination needs to be at least one minute long unless you can argue that it's a full standalone scene that's shorter.

I'll likely do this as a brutal one-on-one single elimination tournament since I expect to get a lot of nominations. However, I could change this once I see what we have lined up.

I'll start by nominating the following:

- the piano dancing scene in Big

- the underwear dance in Risky Business (sorry about the ad - starting at 0:32 in this clip)

- the scene staring into the Seurat painting in Ferris Bueller (from 0:53 to the end of this clip, though they cut it off a little too soon)

- the Ferris Bueller parking attendants flying in the Ferrari

- Forrest Gump deciding to stop running (5:08 to 6:37 in this clip)

I liked it. It was all suspense and very little action, though.

That final scene with the suicide vest was pretty good, though.

I'm going to try my best to keep this short. In no particular order . . .

The introduction of James Bond, in Dr. No:

The amazing fight scene with the statue of Kali, in The Golden Voyage of Sinbad:

The best dance scene: Gene Kelly and Donald O'Connor in Singing in the Rain:

Big bear chase me (aka "Hit him with the poker!"), from The Great Outdoors:

The final battle on the road in The Road Warrior.

The coffee shop robbery in Sudden Impact.

Ripley vs. the Alien Queen in Aliens.

Phoebe Cates getting out of the pool, in Fast Times at Ridgemont High (this is a cleaned up and creatively edited SFW video of it).

And I'm not going to post a link here, but Hulk vs. Loki in The Avengers.

I promise I'll stop now.

To each his own. As films go it wasn't the worst, just overrated. Best Picture? Uh.....no. The academy awards have gone the way of the Nobel IMO.

If somebody can find an embeddable version of this, you get rep.

Batman interrogates the Joker, and vice versa.

FWIW, all you have to do is put the stuff after the v= in between this

_4-FgMZ4pik

and delete the space after the e of the second youtube and the final ]

It took me a little while to figure it out myself...
