We have a vote coming up on May 8 it is a vote to put in the Constitution of the state of NC That Marriage is to be between one man and one woman.

I don't care what gay people do in their bedrooms, it's none of my business but on the same token I think only a man and woman should be able to legally marry... I really don't even care if Gay people want civil unions....

I am a Conservative .... and I will be voting FOR the amendment.

But I've also been given little reason to believe that the slope is ever as slippery as people like to claim when things don't go their way. Gay marriage isn't going to be a gateway to acceptance of human/animal marriage or human/car marriage, imo.

As for my bitching, I'm certainly entitled to bitch, with both my voice and my vote. On this particular topic, I'm not likely to do either. I'm certainly not going to start voting democrat over it. With the government out of marriage, government is still responsible for protecting the contract. It is not a contract if both sides don't mutually consent to it.

That's true but in this case it works without one, because I doubt the animal who is controlled by the owner anyway, is not going to sue for divorce. Nor is any court going to accept a case from a pet owner on their dog. So if the person wants to feel married who really cares? I don't. It harms no one. Let them marry. No one has to accept it.

I don't see gay marriages lasting anyway....their relationships don't, generally, last that long. I do think Mormon and Muslims would practice polygamy—if they could afford it and if the the mainstream Mormons decide to bring it back. Both those systems have rules though. Outside of that, it probably wouldn't work out for most people. I mean what man wants more than one wife?
